    Sorry, I don't trust Paypal

I use to have a paypal account. About every two weeks I would get phishing e-mails form "them" and "ebay" wanting imformation on my account. I've since closed the account and WILL NOT do further business with them. If others can get my e-mail address from them, then they can get my credit card and bank account numbers.

If you can come up with another form of payment, I'll consider a premium membership. With Paypal....Not on your life.

*sigh* sorry... all you get from me is verbal support. I would subscribe if I could, though!

Did you ever consider that maybe those "phishing" emails were actually valid? There is a whole process with signing up to Paypal.

    Yes.

Instead of clicking on the attached links I would use my browser to go to Paypal and they verified that my account was fine. It just got old.

Even after closing the account I still get phishing e-mails from them

You mean phishing email from someone pretending to be them?

I always use Sneakemail to generate new email addresses when signing up for something, so I don't have to reveal my private address.

I was wondering about that as well. Cogito posted this response in April to someone asking whether they can use their debit card.

So you don't have to have a PayPal account. However, I think you still have to go through the PayPal portal. I had a terrible experience with PayPal before and have refused to use them again. So I'm hoping there will be another way to support the site at some point.

I went through paypal using my credit card. Didn't have a problem. It was like buying anything else online, but I'm sure there are exceptions.

Just looked at doing this myself (I figure if I'm still here and interested in a month's time, I'll give it a go, only fair to contribute). Anywho, you want to check your exchange rates. £1 does not buy $2 any more, I'm afraid, the costs in GBP should be higher.

In other news, my wallet just bit me.

Can you pay via American Express Gift Card? Considering I'm fourteen, I do not have PayPal or a Credit/Debit Card. Lol.

I would imagine if you can buy something online with that card, you can pay for membership.

Don't quote me on that. If the card is only for purchases at a certain store, then probably won't work.

Have you considered asking Mom or Dad to pay?

One way or the other, hope to see you sporting some green soon. ;)

Hey Z, grandparents are a great way to go! Especially if you live far away from them.;) Just tell them you want $5.00 a month for a writing workshop and they'll be extatic to card it for you.

If that doesn't work, tell your parents you want to be a graphic artist and you need them to purchase the new Adobe CS4 Design Suite Premium for only $2000. When they flip out and are floundering for a way to make up for the disappointment they've caused you, ask if they'd be willing to pay $5.00 a month for your premium membership to Writingforums.org instead, so you can become a writer...

LOL. ;) I'm kidding. But it really might work.

This reminds me, I signed up some while ago but am yet to proudly support the badge. Guess we'll both have to wait until Daniel comes on.

I didn't know there was a supporting feature. My Mother is in town this week (I'm on vacation yay!) so it will have to wait until next payday. I think this is really a great idea though!

If anyone had or is still having problems with subscribing or having the features implemented, please let me know.

I did end up fixing the exchange rate. That was outdated.

Hey Daniel. I just donated to this site, and I'm not getting the features. Are those just automatically added to my account or do I have to enable them?

Daniel has to enable them manually, I think.

Give him a PM, just to nudge him, and he'll sort it when he's next online :)

I donated to the site as well, and I've tried everything to contact Daniel, but no luck. I even e-mailed him using the e-mail from the Pay Pal receipt, but no reply. I must admit I'm a little miffed at that.

Edward, I've informed him through other channels that you're waiting, so I'm presuming he must be temporarily without internet. As soon as he gets my message, I know he'll sort it.
