If you want to discuss what makes a song 'your song' or 'your all time favorite song', post it here. My favorite song of all times is 'Sweet Dreams' by the Eurythmics. I even like the Mason remix.
Staind - Falling Maybe not "My" song, but its mine for me. Its the song i was listening to (i was at the concert and they were playing it) when i thought to myself F*** i love this girl im with. I was a bit tipsy and she was in my arms and she was dancing kind of and i though this is who im going to spend the rest of my life with. "My song" I'm going to have to think on it for a while. There are many. So when i listen to this song, i get funny...in a good way.
Good song, have a couple of their cds. The first song the hubs and I danced to was 'Only God Knows Why' By Kid Rock. It was at a birthday party, for my hubs/bosses/teen son.
"Somebody Else" by Hawk Nelson. "Are these dreams overrated? Running from myself? I used to be somebody else, I'm holding out for a good reason. The people around me, they all seem to tell me that I tend to change like the seasons. I used to be somebody else." This song pretty much describes the essence of me.
Joe Satriani's "Surfing With the Alien" It's not exactly my favorite song, but it fits me: carefree, fairly complicated, and impossible to take seriously.
"Undead" by Hollywood Undead It's a little too loud, a little too crazy, a little too aggressive, a little (okay, a lot) too profane, a little too sexy, and a little too angry. Describes me pretty well! Well. For the most part. (Undead!) You better get up out the way! Tomorrow we'll rise so we fight today; Ya know: I dont give a f--k what you think or say; we are gonna rock this whole place anyway! (Undead!) Also known as the band's "motto / what we're all about" song.
Forget It, by Breaking Benjamin. It's a really awesome song. Doesn't describe me, but it's just awesome. Also, anything by Avenged Sevenfold.
The two greatest songs ever written: Low by Cracker Interstate love song by Stone Temple Pilots Sorry if you disagree, you are wrong.
"Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. I don't know why, but that song just lifts me up every time I hear it. and "Vienna" by Billy Joel. The first time I heard it, I felt like it was written about me. I love songs like that.
I agree that Queen is a fabulous band, very talented and "Don't Stop Me Now" is a great choice for a top song. But my favorite song of all time is "Slow Dance" by John Legend. It has such a smooth feeling to it, it just makes you want to dance.
I can relate to Half-Jack by the Dresden Dolls a lot. Also, Passenger by the Deftones, It's A Fire by Portishead, All That Could Have Been by Nine Inch Nails, Cut Here and Lullaby by the Cure, and My Mind is a Box by Pretty Balanced. Those are some songs which feel as if they are "about" me.
I have a bit of an obsession with that song... There are hundreds of songs that often seem like they've taken aspects of my life/thoughts and documented them. If I were to choose any as my theme song it'd be a toss up between Code Red and Sleeps With Butterflies, both by Tori Amos.
Leben Heisst Leben by Laibach. Life is life my friends, and nothing says it better than a martial stomp-around by everyone's favorite Slovenians: Laibach!
I'm a huge Queen fan, a friend of a friend of mine was Freddie's PA - yes, the one who wrote the book - but "my" song is not a Queen one, but "The Whole of the Moon" by The Waterboys. It reminds me that I can do great things if I allow myself to.
Knights of Cydonia by Muse. There's just something about that last two minutes. You've gone through what my sister calls the gallopy bit with the catchy tune. Then there's the toning down. Then there's the build-up, and... BANG! Immense riff to say the least. I also have a deep and heartfelt love for Layla by Eric Clapton, which might be because I was rejected once and promptly listened to it 17 times in a row, hitting repeat one on iTunes.
I think that the song I most relate to is 'Hey you' by Pink Floyed. I love the emotion in that song, and I do sometimes feel the alienation of the songs theme. Other than that 'Smells like teen spirit' by Nirvana. 'Lateralus' by Tool or 'Losing my Religon' by R.E.M. are songs that fit me and my personality very well.
-hails LordKyleOfEarth- My dad got me into STP. Love Interstate Love Song, Down, Plush, and a few others. 'My' Song, more currently than anything, is Stolen by Dashboard Confessional. It just reminds me of how Mike's stolen my heart, how he's 'the best one of the best ones', and how 'we all look like we feel'. But the one that's applied to me over time would be Hear Me by Kelly Clarkson. (Hear Me) You gotta be out there You gotta be somewhere Wherever you are, I'm waiting 'Cause there are these nights when I sing myself to sleep And I'm hoping my dreams Bring you close to me Are you listening? Hear me I'm crying out I'm ready now Turn my world upside down Find me I'm lost inside the crowd It's getting loud I need to you see I'm screaming for you to please Hear me I used to be scared of Letting someone in But it gets so lonely being on my own No one to talk to and No one to hold me I'm not always strong Oh, I need you here Are you listening? etc. You get the point. The whole thing just screams me, though.
It would either have to be 'Under The Bridge' By The Chili Peppers or 'Triumph' by The Wu-Tang Clan. I have no idea why these two songs reach out to me more than others, they just do.
Under the bridge is amazing. Personally I don't really have a set song that I think is "mine." Whenever the mood strikes and the right song is on, THAT'S my song.
hmmm, I think the Strokes' "Heart in a Cage." But only when Chris Thile sings it- "See I'm stuck in a city/But I belong in a field"
