Well, maybe not at all public libraries. But my local one runs a "Writer in Residence," where published authors are hired to come in and offer free consultations to aspiring writers for a few months at a time. I've had three half-hour sessions with the Writer in Residence currently at my library, and she's given me some really great feedback on my work-- including a few epiphanies. It's elevated my writing forever, or at least until cognitive decline hits me in my later years. So, check it out, folks. See if your library runs such a program.
I know my last local library had writing/creative arts type workshops, but I had always been too busy to attend any of them. The library where I live now might have something, but again I'm too busy to even go by there, I haven't even gone in yet and it's been almost a year.
Wow, this is a cool idea. Not only do you get feedback from a published writer but they can hopefully also answer any questions about the publication process. I hope more libraries pick this up.
