Okay, looked that one up and expect to come across it frequently in the days ahead.

The revolution in C21st computing was cloud computing; the great thing about the cloud is seamless redundancy -- failover of individual servers is a thing of history… unless of course the cloud goes down…

Would have been off-topic in the colander thread, so...
I hate cleaning colanders! The way starch turns rock hard and gets stuck in/around all the holes is a major pain, and they're too large to soak in the sink :supermad:.

I ousted mine out 5+ years ago. Instead just use a dinner plate on the mouth of the pot.

Never forget the Prime Directive—it doesn't need to be submerged to be soaking. Turn it upside-down and lay a wet dishcloth on it, it's soaking. But usually I use your plate trick, but with a lid (best if it doesn't quite fit the pot).

I rinse the starch off the colander as soon as I finish draining the whatever needs draining. Otherwise the starch turns rock hard and gets stuck in the holes. Just sayin'. :angle:

My whole complaint in another thread about 18 hours without power was classic first-world whinging. I had food, water, shelter, hope and the knowledge it would get better soon (and it did). Inconvenience, yes, but how many people in displacement camps would complain about sitting in a nice soft chair looking out the window, cell phone in hand, in moderately warm temperature?

I really need to count my blessings.

I’ve been robbed. I opened the package of double stuff Oreos I bought last night, and they’re single stuff.

Have you read The Recent Great French Duel by Mark Twain (well out of copyright by now)? Twain, an American, has accepted the role of second in an upcoming duel between two Frenchmen. It is the job of the seconds to arrange matters such as time, place, and choice of weapons.

What time are pubs in the UK supposed to shut now we’re back to normal? Here we are, gone midnight and I can still here the bass throbbing from one of the locals. I’m not in work right now (and I wouldn’t be tomorrow anyway as it’s Saturday) but when I do return I can’t afford to stay up much beyond 10pm. If this is a sign of the frivolities I can expect around here I’m buggered!!

I pay all my bills online except for the father-and-son operation who mow my lawn and shovel my snow. Grinds me to have to write that one stupid check every month and mail it (mail it!) to them. It's the only reason I have to buy stamps anymore.

I've looked at the big 'lawn care' companies, but they seem to be mostly focused on squirting carcinogens on my yard.

Well, good news is if you can't sleep, there's a pub nearby that's still open...
