Couple months ago a Windows update rendered my keyboard (all keyboards, I've got some crappy ones as spares) useless. That was fun to get uninstalled.

Speaking of Windows, Windows 10 recently updated my laptop and deleted nearly all of my WIPs. Happened last month. Thankfully I had one of my favorites on a USB but...so much work lost. Thanks Windows 10.

All that grass seed I put out is finally sprouting, just not where I wanted it to. So much of it washed away in the rain, the grass is growing around the edges of the bare patches, not IN the bare patches. All I’ve done is make them smaller.

If I had the space... The late Iain Banks kept a writing computer that only had a word processor, no internet connection at all, to keep himself from getting distracted.

I wonder what my backup settings were. Is my WIP gone?

I feel you on this. I'm on the third bag of grass seed this season and the second bag of weed n feed and have dethatched twice this season, and the ground cover weeds are the only thing that's thriving. Conversely, in the back yard, which has had virtually no attention other than weed n feed because we were planning to put pavers in, the lawn is growing in nicely.

The ground cover weeds have tiny, cute white flowers on them, and weed n feed hasn't killed it. I'm seriously considering digging up a clump of them and taking them to the local nursery to find out what they are and just planting the entire front yard with them. (They don't look like a wild plant; I think it's something that got seeded there either by birds or wind.)

Dad had a car accident yesterday and was kept in overnight. The things he's bothered about? His mobile phone, the GPS device he uses when he's out walking (either the police or the hospital have those tucked away for safekeeping)... and his expensive walking trousers, which the paramedics ruined.

The car's f*cked as well, but I don't think he's as bothered about that, because it was almost ready for scrapping anyway.

Sorry to hear that! Hope your dad worrying about such things means he's alright?

Yeah that's pretty much standard Dad, still waiting for him to call us to say he's ready to be picked up though.

Why do I get the feeling that's exactly how I'd act if I were in your dad's situation? Add the snarky, morbid humor and cursing. :p

Train I take to work is slow thanks to "Massive delays." It'd be really nice to know what caused these "Massive delays" but the MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) likes to annoy us riders.

Gonna have to leave 2 hours early, just to make sure I get to work tonight. In a suit. In the heat. Goddammit.

Setting up a new computer is so fucking frustrating.

"Welcome to [insert program name you've been using for years]! Let's take a tour and learn all about the features of [program name]!"

Let's fucking not, I just want to get this installed, not learn how to do stuff that's all muscle memory by now.

if you were on win10 and it had all the spoonfed mscrap from the beginning, there may be a copy somewhere the pros can find.
All my hopes for the recovery of your work.
In the 90s, I used to counsel clients who lost data, as well as recover data (like a surgeon). I could never go back.
I still beat up on myself when I lose data
