Yeah, I understand the legit problems they're trying to address, but no matter how many times I tell them I'm often (read "permanently") in Japan on business, they still freak out when there are transactions here. It's amazing how provincial financial institutions can be this far into the 21st century. My bank back home has a big board behind the tellers listing up-to-the-minute exchange rates, but they don't offer currency exchange services. "Well hun, the best thing would be to drive into the airport and do it there..."
I got a new couch. For the first time, I got living room furniture with separate seat cushions and for the first time, I face the most dreadful of first world problems: losing the remote in the couch.
Speaking of cats, ours has diarrhoea. I've been cleaning up the results all evening. It's so annoying, you walk five paces and there's another splodge. It's like a treasure trail but with cat poo.
Would that be the great 'Glenn Gould?' He used to 'hum-dee-hum' along to his piano. I recommend G Gould if anybody requires a new '6 month hobby...' This clip is quite porno, a great 'starter piece,' you'll never look at the neighbours the same again, you ARE better..
That was priceless, Mat. It may well have been Glen Gould! It's been a while since I've put that one in rotation because it was so annoying.
The recipe site "Genius Kitchen," which has spent the last few years aggressively maximizing its SEO to where it appears as the first result in almost any food-related google search, has now apparently blocked non-US (?*) users from accessing it. Seems like an awful waste of money. *I have three different countries in my basic, workaday VPN, plus Japan with it turned off. None of them are US, and I'm not able to access it from any of them. Oh well, not like there aren't other sites out there that have stolen the same damn recipes.
Feel like banging my head off the table atm. So many variables, and they all seem to be shite! Option 1-Fly from Phoenix to Dublin. But have to first get to Phoenix, which is a 3 hour drive. Flight then takes at least 15 hours, plus a 5 hour stop in LAX. Option 2-Fly from Los Angeles. This is much cheaper, but takes at least 9 hours to get to from Snowflake! Option 3-Dublin to Phoenix, and I can't stay there long due to finance or circumstance. Option 4-UPS or FedEX??!! Option 5-Swim across the Atlantic Ocean?!...FFS!!! I have also looked at buses, and I'm not even gonna talk about that! Ferries I couldn't even get my head around.
I had to snigger at this. But I'm half English and I like iced tea more than hot tea... Then again, I'm also half Irish but hate alcohol, let alone beer...
^^^ I could take that somewhere else entirely (also his influences!), but I will resist the temptation!
You've given me a giggle fit now! Please resist, I don't want this site flagging the workplace filters (most staff are gone, but the IT tech is still around.)
AZ can be a bitch to travel in, I remember trying to meet up with a high school friend when I was stationed there. It would have taken 23 hours on six buses to get across the state. Good luck!
That's the part that's kinda funny. Even if I lived over there, depending on where I was, it would still be a bitch to travel to! I thought Ireland was bad, but now I am grateful for our shitty services. I need to stop comparing things to England, but when you've lived there for nearly 30 years, it's really hard not to.
You can get the train from Winslow to Los Angeles for 70 or 80 bucks. It's a long ride, though, and you still have to get from downtown L.A. to the airport :/
Bus would be cheaper, if Greyhound still goes. ETA: Just saw it in her orig post. never mind. still tipsy
Bus is always cheaper than the train in the US unless it's a commuter train but the bus is really sketchy. I used to Greyhound to relatives a lot as a kid and it was sketchy then.
My air conditioner is so loud that Alexa can't hear my instructions to turn my lamp on, which means I had to get up and do it. WITH MY HANDS. What the fuck is the world coming to?
