I'm loving Cities: Skylines. I decided to do a PC vs console comparison and was surprised to see very little difference.

Then I found this and discovered just what the PC modding community are capable of. So much for not being envious of PC gamers

I bought Cuphead and Subnautica recently. They're both pretty fun games, but Cuphead's the best. It's very difficult, but it's so awesome I just want to keep playing!

Curiosity got the better of me and I had to look up some gameplay of this. It's definately not my type of thing, but they've nailed that 1930s/40s cartoon look.

Yeah, they definitely did. I'm pretty sure it's all hand drawn too.

It's not really 'about' anything. It's a city-building game - a bit of a niche market - in which you plan, construct and control pretty much every aspect of what keeps a big city ticking over.

Here's some actual gameplay of a new city from scratch. This one starts out with its roads looking rather like a penis.

So it's like an updated version of Sim City?

City builder is an entire genre now. Though a small one. But yes, Simcity was the basis for the genre.

What @halisme said. I can lose hours playing this game, in much the same way I did with Rollercoaster Tycoon back in the day, but they're strangely unsatisfying in the long run. When you finish a city there's a strong sense of 'Now what?', so they're very much all about the journey rather than the destination.

    Why yes I predate the 90's. :p
I even grew up learning how to use a computer in DOS.
And the internet when you had to dial out.
Whipper snappers and your fancy, smancy technology.
Probably think we were neanderthals with our corded phones too, hmm...?:D

I still play RollerCoaster Tycoon on occasion, I have like 6 copies I got for free inside of cereal boxes back in like, 2000. I too find it kind of unsatisfying at the end, but then I find most video games unsatisfying at the end. Especially if you're allowed to run around after you've finished your final quest, not really doing much after saving the world and no one really recognizing anything you've done for them or even realizing the world was falling apart.

I really wanted the new one, Planet Coaster, but the days when my PC could handle commercial games is long gone!

This doesn't 100% have to do with gaming, but I just bought a second monitor and hooked it up to my laptop. It's really useful to have two monitors for programming, and my games look a lot better when I play them on the second monitor.

Subnautica. What a game. What's scarier than the ocean? An ALIEN ocean!

I think I bought the wrong one. I bought 2033, which I think is the one I had a year or so ago and gave up on cos I couldn't get past the third level.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is heaps of fun. Hard as balls, too, on occasion.

Playing the new Far Cry 5 and it's amazing. The perfect game will never exist (unless you make it yourself and for you alone) but for me this comes as close as they're ever going to. It's like Fallout 4, GTA V and DayZ (without the zombies) all rolled into one. And the icing on the cake is the ability to disable the entire HUD/interface for ultimate immersion.

Does anyone play World of Warcraft? I don't any longer (although I do try every expansion), but I started in 2006 and played until around 2013-2014 properly. For the last four years I've come back so one could technically say I've played every year from 2006 to 2018, which is a bit scary. For those who know of such things, my main was a Nelf Prot warrior. I essentially grew up with the game. The music is particularly dear to me.

I used to play hack 30 years ago. It was on the Sun workstations we used for development in my first job after university. It was that or adventure.

I remember when this was all fields and a 1200 baud modem was cutting edge.

Lol, I just found it recently from a Youtuber I watch, and thought it looked interesting, so I gave it a shot.
