I just quoted on my first (or at least first for a while) freelance job Plus I have a job interview for the first paid role I applied for after leaving my employer...
You clever little demon... Well, my anxiety is finally bottomed out. It's simmering, but nowhere near as bad as it was for the past three days. I've learned an important lesson. Take meds and avoid trigger-inducing things. :3
Feeling good right now. A couple of weeks back, I found a short piece of writing that had been disgarded ages ago and stuck in file folder. For being a first draft it read pretty well. It had been written in Third, strange, as I've been messing around a lot in First, trying to banish some of my bad habits. Last night I took a run at the next section and, while far from perfect, I think my blinkers/blinders have finally loosened and fallen off. Amazing what four years of hanging around this place can do.
2 job applications, 2 interviews.... oh yes I'm good ( the first interview is on tuesday, the other one is on the 24th)
There is a brand-spanking-new 2017 Subaru Outback sitting in my driveway, and it's ALL MINE!! I bought him today. He's fully loaded with almost every available feature. I could probably drive him to Mars. In your FACE, Elon Musk!
I went to the local bookstore. At the desk, I asked where I could find a book about grammar. The lady behind the desk pointed and said downstairs we have the non-fiction, there will be staff there. Interleaved with this talking and pointing I managed to stick in that I am going to write a novella. At that point, she actually says: Come, I will show you.
I think I speak for all of us when I say we need updates from Bay (names, and are they home?) and Moose (still Max?) and more pics from both. And @minstrel. Yours is the only pet without a picture on here. For shame.
I haven't done my dog either. Here's Rufus. (Did the picture work? It's showing an error on my screen)
Damn, I don't know hos else to post it. Tbh I think my phone was troubled doing picture. I can't every seem to get images into posts from my phone. It worked on my laptop. That's broke.
File size, probably. Can you reduce it a ways? My phone has some reedonkulous petapixel resolution that fights with the whole internet and gobbles up memory cards like crisps...
Have I not shared this yet? The first minute is just standard cuteness, but the last minute or two is upper level kitten action! And... Hazel, maybe, for the black and white one? And then maybe Oscar or Archie for the orange one? Maybe?
I pick Max puppy up on the 21st ... thereafter there will probably be daily pictures and videos as Maximus Barkymuch Furryarse gets used to his new life
After several years, I took my last final for my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice last night. I can now say I'm a college graduate... only 18 years later than it should have been. Now I have to begin studying for the GRE test for the Master's program in Criminology.
I am very new at writing. I think I will have a wonderful time discovering things that most of you found so long ago that you don't see it anymore. I have had characters acting without me doing it. I have had characters saying things I didn't say. But today I find my narrator is saying things that I never said. Two weeks ago I wrote ...She puts some paste on her toothbrush and starts, each tooth from each side.... This morning I was at my Dental Hygienist, as usual, we argue about me not using an electric toothbrush. She says (in Swedish) that if I use a manual toothbrush I must be careful and brush each tooth on each side. I have seen the same dentist more than 10 years, so my narrator has picked it up last year or the year before or...
Well, I'll try not to write a book... I had a full ride to go to The Ohio State University. I was going as a Journalism Major. Unfortunately a month before school started my grandfather passed away. I had been raised by him and my grandmother since I was about 9. That left my grandmother alone when I left for college. And the start of my Sophomore year I was really feeling home sick and felt my grandmother needed someone to help her out. My buddy had told me about a program at a local community college that paid for all expenses and pretty much guaranteed a state job working for a prison upon graduation. So I dropped out of The Ohio State University and started attending Sinclair Community College. After a year or so I had heard the state was having a major hiring deal so I put in my application. I hadn't finished my degree yet, but the state had a program where employees could get all their college expenses paid as long as they were pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice while employed. So eventually I started to go to school part-time while working, and then one quarter my grandmother had a stroke. So I dropped out that quarter. I never went back and finished. Later on in life I got the opportunity to go to Miami University of Ohio, in which I was going to get a degree in Sociology. I was managing a retail store and going to school full-time. About two months into my second semester my father passed away, and a week later I was in a bad car accident. Once again I had to drop out. Because of a financial aid screw up by the school, they said I had to pay back money I didn't have in order to register for the next semester... then when I was unable to register, eventually my school loans came due, then in default... and for years I never had the chance to finish school. Then a couple years ago because of a new program put in place by President Obama, I was able to pay $5 a month for 9 months to get my loans out of default. I then sold my car to pay off the other money I owed to get my transcripts released, and was able to enroll at Eastern Kentucky University. Not all my classes transferred or fit into my major, so it has taken me two years to graduate. It only took 120 semester hours to graduate, and I finished with 147, which is basically like an extra year.
