I made some matzoh today and the smell of it cooking gave me a nostalgia trip to some time I spent in Quebec City that I almost forgot happened.
Tonight, I was able to learn major and minor scales (natural, harmonic, and melodic) for piano. Head knowledge, mind you. I'll still need practice on a real piano. However, I now understand the circle of fifths and could play the scales on a piano, very slowly.
Successfully made shoyu ramen with chashu pork today, nearly from scratch (used better noodles, but they were still premade). It was a lot of work for me, since I'm naturally inept in the kitchen, so my wife (who is an amazing cook) had a few good laughs. But it was delicious, and gave me a nostalgia trip back to when I lived in Japan. My wife makes miso ramen often enough, but it's been forever since I've had Shoyu, since my wife doesn't like it as much as she does spicy miso ramen.
First day of moving! We only had time for one round, but got most things. We'll drive one more round tomorrow, and then it'll be just me and all my boxes! There is only light in the kitchen and bathroom. I managed to get enough light to be in the bedroom, but it's hard to sort things in here, and the kitchen is full! Though I did manage to paint the kitchen table inside all that chaos. Because I got priorities! Oh, there is no ghosts!
Happy now 'cause I went to visit my mom and we had a great time. We got heaps and heaps of snow, which meant after a long period of dark (November is the darkest, most depressing month), there was finally some light. The sky and the ground were the same color, which I've always found fascinating and slightly disorienting. It just sucks she lives kinda far, so we don't see each other very often. Then again, maybe that's a good thing 'cause then we never waste time bickering and arguing. Also, here's a selfie I took of the winter wonderland because why not. Spoiler It kept snowing all day!
Finished (almost) moving! Tiny house to huge rental house! I hate moving. With any luck, I will only have to do it one more time in my whole life - back to the Pacific Northwest, to a house I own. Exactly where it will be I don't know, but it'll be MINE (and my roomie's), so we can do whatever we want to it. Next year, Gawd willing.
Y'all remember the granddaughter of my friends I told you about? The one who was walking her grandparents' dog? I got the granddaughter's name tonight. Looks like I don't have to hide my head in a bag after all.
Nope. I'll leave her anonymity to her, but it's a name I like. Goes well with a baseball player. She looks like she plays baseball, too.
I could never date a woman named Ruth if only because it's my mothers name. If I found myself liking a Ruth and she liked me back, she'd just have to change her name. If she's unwilling to do that, then I guess it wasn't really true love after all.
Good to hear that. And hopefully your move to the Pacific Northwest happens soon as well. Get away from the drought and wildfires and whatnot!
Damn - I can't remember the last time I saw a movie trailer that got me this excited about the movie! I want to see this one NOW.
What the hell did I just watch? It's like Stephen King and the Coen Brothers collaborated.... Looks interesting.
