Yeah, those have been around forever. We don't use coasters, thankfully. I never liked them. Almost like The Man is trying to tell me where I should put my drink. At home is a different story. We got a new coffee table a week ago and I'm shocked I haven't ringed the shit out of it yet.
Dead Space is getting a remake and I'm cautiously optimistic because even though the original games are fantastic, I'd love to see a fresher take on them. My brother sent me a link to the trailer and I got giddy.
... I've started working on my next book... And I'll be writing, editing, and preparing to publish in 30 days. (Ideally Aug 1 - Sept 1, but I may push the official release to like Sept 8, which is also the anniversary of my first book, Facing Racism.) And no I'm not talking about a 50-page, 10k word pdf ebook. I mean full production. Chapters, core concepts, stories, and strategies in print and digital formats. And I'll be doing it while editing 1 book, coaching 2 authors through the writing and production of their own, onboarding a September author, and preparing for school to resume Aug 23.
At work today, my boss asked if I'd be interested in writing the copy for the new web site he's having made up. I've never done that kind of business writing, but I figured it can't be that hard, so I said yes tentatively; we'll talk about the details later on. Then tonight I got Chinese takeout for dinner, and my fortune cookie informed me that "You are about to begin a prosperous business venture." Groovy. Thanks for the encouragement, cookie!
Signed up for Kindle Unlimited (9.99 a month, 10 books at a time, mostly self-published) and discovered that it includes your choice of three magazines, including Fantasy & Science Fiction, which usually costs $39.97 a year for six issues.
I had a pair of baby possums for awhile when I was in my teens, their mother had been hit by a car and they were still in her pouch. We bottle-raised them, they were very cute. Unfortunately we left them with someone while on a family vacation, and that person kept them in his garage, where, presumably, the fumes killed them. But I have to say, cute as those babies were, I wouldn't want to get near an adult possum.
Awwww! I'm so sorry to hear that they passed. But I'm glad you found them. We check the sadly hit opossums just in case if they had any babies. The one I had was a baby and broke into my cabin lol. He got big but kept the same cute face lol.
That game was scary AF. I ain't going back. Spoiler: small plot spoiler Those soldiers with the broken stasis fields were entirely nope sauce on nope with side of nope. I recommend Resident Evil 4 if you haven't tried it yet, which was a strong inspiration.
I think Alien Isolation trumps them all as a truly terrifying cinematic experience as a game. Dead Space remake does, however, look pretty menacing.
I'll second that. Kind of cheating with the Alien aesthetic built into the cinematography, but it was still an awesome game. Maddening as hell, though. That fucking alien does whatever it wants and ruins your day out of nowhere. I could only play it in small spurts before I needed to take a chill pill and play something else for a minute.
I think what wasbestwas when it would scare the shit out of you repeatedly and you psyched yourself up to deal with it and then...nothing... ...then the mechanic gets a tail through the chest and sucked into a vent. Queue intense runaway from...nothing... That game was incredibly well paced.
Yeah, except the Alien inconveniently killing my ass every time I thought I finally made it past the level.
It's what they do. It's all they do. And they absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead. sorry, wrong franchise.
Just as I got tired of the sameness of NASCAR races and pretty much stopped watching, they added more road course events and pulled me back in.
Oh yes. there is still sleep happening here. About 7 hrs a night so far. I'll be happy to share with anyone interested in early readership starting next week, may post a segment in the workshop for review soon too.
I started getting into watching hill climbs and desert crosses because of this. A lot more intensity in the action. NASCAR and F1 always felt so prim and proper and bland. I like the dirt tracks and damage. Ice road races are cool too. Pun intended.
I'm on the train home from work, and a woman just got on wearing leopard print sweatpants and carrying a rainbow handbag with a tabby kitten poking its adorable little head out of it. Now she's sitting across from me and playing Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" on her phone and singing along to the cat. God, I love life's randomness sometimes.
Got a promotion this week with a big raise and an AIP increase. This makes my life plans move up a few years quicker than expected. Completely shocked I got it after only three years. This is turning out to be a better year than expected.
