    Sleeping Patterns

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Cacian, Jan 24, 2012.

How much sleep do you get daily?
Sleep impacts on things like thinking and writing for example.
What time do you write best for example?

I usually like to have around 7-9 hours sleep per day. It obviously needs to fluctuate from day to day.
As for writing, I tend to write at my best, and just plain be at my best, from around 4pm to 8pm.
There is just something about writing at night too that I find soothing.

Until a couple of days ago I was literally living like a hermit, sleeping all day and being up all night when everyone else was asleep. It's not nice at all and I only broke out of it by doing an all-nighter right through the night. In terms of writing though it's good for getting peace and quiet!

That is only 4hours of being/feeling good.
what are you like the rest of the day?
I associate night with tiredness myslef. Night time for me is for sleeping now, unless I am out which is different.
I use to sleep through the day till six in the evening if I was out the night before till odd hours at weekends.
    I don't this anymore.
I can only write during the day as Iget too sleepy nearer bed time. I can't focus when it is night time.

Normal, just not as content. I don't know why but late afternoon to night has always been my favorite stretch of time.

I am more or less the same all the way through, only I get tiresome when it is nearer bed time.
All my writing is done during daytime at least I know I won't worry if I am out in the evenings then I do not worry about my writing.

I go to sleep when I'm tried or if I have to be up early the next morning, but I sometimes find myself staying up till 9 am after waking up at 10 am the day before then sleeping for 3 hours and feeling fine. I feel more likely to write when I'm in bed because that's when my mind wonders and I get more ideas so writing before bed time is best for me.

I like my sleep! Have to get up at 6 am during the week though... I try and sleep around 8 hours.

I prefer writing in the evening.

I usually get around 7 hours a night. I've always been an early bird though and I find I write best in the morning. I set my alarm for 30mins earlier than I normally would, creep out of bed leaving hubby sleeping and go downstairs to write before getting ready for work. I don't tend to write in the evenings because we spend evenings together.

My husband calls me an over sleeper. I can easily sleep 8-10 hours straight and not feel groggy like most people do after too much sleep. I've also been known to take "naps" that are 3-4 hours long. I'm horrible.

I'm a night owl and write better after 8 pm. Unfortunately I can't do this all the time because I'd be up all night and asleep all day when my husband is home.

I'm pretty much the same. Try and get 8 hours if I can during the week, and push it to 10-12 at the weekend. i miss staying up late though. I've always been a bit of a night-owl.

At the moment not enough. I'm currently ill with multiple infections and find it hard to breath while lying down (which I find distracting) - so I'm mostly falling asleep for an hour or so at a time while still sat in my recliner.

When in routine I sleep 9pm~6am. I don't usually have time to write on weekdays but when I do I use that time for research and outlining.

I prefer to write early in the morning or late at night. The former because it sets the pace for the rest of the day and the latter because I'm less likely to be interrupted.

Oh, I'm a bugger for staying up too late, and I totally blame my lack of sleep/knackeredness for my inability to write anything decent these days. I work seven days a week and get up at 5.30am to walk my dogs, usually can't get myself to sleep 'til gone midnight and get woken up at least once during the night by something or other. Definitely need to get more sleep. There's so much I want to do and never enough time to do it all, hence my staying up late, but then when I try to get to bed early I can't usually sleep anyway. Can't win. The times I find it easiest to drop off, bizarrely, is when I'm trying to write anything new!! Very frustrating.

I'd love to try writing in the morning, but I never get chance. Stupid work.

I usually go to bed between 11 and 11:30 at night, and get up at 7 am. I'd love to change the routine so that I could get up much earlier (4:30 or 5 am), which is the routine I had when I was in my twenties, but I can't really do that because I have a disabled roommate who needs my help a lot, so my schedule has to match his.

I used to love writing in the early morning, but now I write in the late afternoon and after dinner.

<is shot for obvious Zelda nerd-dism>

But yeah, I can imagine you have to wake up at the crack of dawn to work with horses.

Got it. I don't play games so when I looked it up it appeared to be the name for a game.
Hey did you get your 'Link' name from Zelda's?
