A couple of weeks ago I had the boiler replaced in my house. My system has what is referred to in the U.S. as an "indirectly-fired" water heater. This means there is a pipe from the boiler that feeds a heating coil inside the hot water tank. There is one circulator pump that provides heat to the house, and a second circulator pump that feeds the water heater. They are supposed to be independent.

I just discovered that when the water heater calls for the boiler, the house circulator also starts up. This means that whenever the water heater is heating water, I am also heating the house -- even though it's nearly summer and the house thermostat is turned all the way down. Not good. I have sent an e-mail to the installer -- I hope he'll be able (and willing) to correct the problem.

Are you still sick? My son-in-law just recovered from The Vid and my daughter was feeling better today after a bad night last night.

It was in the 90s today. I don't do heat well, which is one of the many reasons I live this far north and at this elevation.

So my water pump was continuously running for some unknown reason. My landlord had to shut it off to be on the safe side, so I'm having to rely on bottled water, jugs of distilled water, and showering at my moms house, until next week when he can call someone to come look at it, as he suspects there might be a leak in the pipes under the house.

And all in the middle of our hottest week. How fun...!

I've done that with my last laptop, so I know the feeling.:supercry: If you can, extract your hard drive from the laptop and keep it in a safe place. If you have a sata adapter, you might still be able to use it as an external drive if/when you get another laptop.

That dowanna do nuthin' feeling is nature's way of making us rest so our bodies can heal themselves. It doesn't last forever, and it won't hurt you to take it easy for a while. Consider it therapy. Don't you have a bunch of books you want to read or movies you want to watch?

Sincere wishes for you to feel better soon. Covid sucks.

Life has its ups ... and its downs.

Just over two weeks ago I was happy, because after almost a month with no hot water I finally had a new boiler and I could take hot showers and wash clothes in hot water.

Happiness is short-lived. I just discovered that the boiler guy somehow managed to interconnect the circulator to the water heater with the circulator for the heat. This means every time the boiler fires up to generate hot water, it also circulates hot water through the heating pipes -- even though the thermostat is turned all the way down and it's 80+ degrees (F) in the house.

I spoke with him this evening, and his instructions on which wires to remove are wrong. Dunno what I do next. It looks like I'll have to take another day off from work so I can stay home and let him fix the problem.

(Also, they took away COVID sick time... So me being off came out of my regular time)

Hope you'll be back to 100% soon, JT. My daughter says she lost taste and smell; hope it will return quickly.

Not in a mentally sound place today. :[ Got scammed and though I was able to get my credit card canceled before any damage was done, I still feel monumentally stupid. -_-

I'm gonna hate this mental shitstorm while it lasts. :C I know I've done worse, and worse things have happened to me and I survived them. I know I'll move past this one, it's just gonna suck. Like a hurricane.

Got my national health insurance bill for this year. Somehow despite making less money than the year before (it's means-tested) it went up monthly.

Time to pull out my tax forms and head to the city office.

Still over $5/gallon over here with no signs of budging. And before all the California people complain, wages in northern Vermont are much, much lower.

Had to do so many conversions... I'm paying about $6.25/gal USD ($8.13/gal CAD) here in Western Canuckia. Whatever. The Mint is not showing signs of slowing down, either.
