One of my heroes has left us, Kim Jung Gi. 47 years old is far too young. Such a nice person and absolutely deserving of the term "genius." For me, his skill with creating art on the fly proved that a person could create without a plan. The trick is to have complete mastery of the smaller forms. Practice those until they're a part of you and then you can shape the big picture effortlessly. Here's one of his crazy drawings in progress. No sketching, no reference models, no eraser.

Hannah Pick-Goslar died at 93 years old. Not only did she survive to 93, but she did it after a stint in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in WWII, and was quite possibly the last person alive who knew Anne Frank.
