Firstly, and I hope everyone knows this, NEVER use rubber bands. They're too harsh for your hair and usually break hair follicles when you try to remove them.

I have very fine hair, and not a lot of brands hang onto my hair, so I like to think that I have a good opinion in brands, especially now that I've found one that actually sticks in my hair when I'm running or boating.

I dont know if they're available in PR --I would assume so, but I use hair ties from the Scunci brand. (I dont know how to do the double dots of the "u," but that's there, too. ;) ) Pretty cheap; I can get about thirty coloured ones for about $1.50 USD, and they're durable.

I'm in Indiana and feel like I'm going to melt; I can only imagine how hot it is in Puerto Rico!

Eoz, thank you! :) I am very happy to hear some positive reinforcement. I am seriously thinking about getting bangs, just because, except for a change in colour every so often, my hair has looked the same since I was about ten. I'm ready for a change!

Hidden and 'Mina-- thanks for bringing me hope. ;) I totally abstained from bangs for most of my life since the Bowl Cut Era of my childhood... it's good to know that you guys think it'll look alright and might even out my face a bit.

I actually just got back from grocery shopping and a consultation with my stylist. I showed her these specific pictures, actually, and given that my senior pictures are in about three weeks, she said she's not so sure if I should get bangs now, especially not the two photos that I showed her that do have bangs because they cover the face and that might not be the best idea for senior photos. She said to look for styles that might be more like the second one, simply because I might not like the bangs nad have to do my senior photos like that.
I've got an appointment on Saturday for a few hours, so she said we're going to play around. Yay!

Being female sucks sometimes, but I absolutely love to do something that changes my exterior from time to time.

Thick wavy hair tending to frizz? Use SERUM (not the truth variety LOL). Then comb your fingers through lightly, don't brush or use a comb unless it's a very wide tooth one (my daughter's hair is massively thick and wavy, this always worked). Get the tangles out before you wash.

When I was broke I used cut off bits of tights to tie back my waist-length hair. Until I ran out of tights.

This is what I use for no frizz action:

Puerto Rico + my fine wavy/curly hair = frizz!!!

My hair is finally long enough again for a pony-tail. Don't know if I want to cut it short again or let it grow out. It put me back $70 when I got it cut last....

I don't like makeup but I will wear it especially if I have an interview to go to but after I get the job it stays off..lol. I never really liked it maybe because I always had a bad habit of touching my face and messing it up.

It depends on the situation for me, around the farm and at work there's no point, dirt and horse goo sticks to make up. However going out with friends and socialising i won't leave until i'm wearing my face. (Also a bit of a confidence booster in large crowds).

My skin is terrible, a combination of being constantly around dirt, sweat and oils means i am forever trying to keep up with the cleansers and toners before Shell deciedes to set up a drilling operation on my face. I managed to find a product (will check what its called when i get home) which is a 3-in-1. And wow! Its a cleanser, facial scrub and mask all in 1. I never use it fully to the directions as i can't see the difference in scrubbing and cleansing (most of my cleansing requires scrubbing). But no more blackheads for me!!

Something else for the black shadows under the eyes is a nivea eye cream, works a treat.

I'm taking senior photos in about two hours. Figures today is a fat day.
Everyone has to take their senior yearbook photo through the same photography company, which is really a ripoff because the cheapest "basic" session is going to cost $75 for the appointment when I only want the 'free' yearbook photo.

Spent last night plucking and moisturizing etc and now I have to figure out makeup, and I'm kind of tired of looking myself in the face. :p

We're only going to purchase the yearbook shot since my friend, who is a budding photoartist, wants to take the artsy-farsty ones some people get (for a cheaper price, better photos, and he gets my style, too) --but still. Blegggh, it's too much effort to attempt prettiness sometimes.

What is so alluring about Barbiegirl-esque senior shots anyway?

I'm just kind of hoping that my senior photo doesnt turn out like all the rest. Grade 9: horrible shirt and braces, Grade 10: Scary makeup eyes, Grade 11: Strange angle makes my head look exponentially bigger than my body... Grade 12? We'll see. =/

Bahh, I'm just bummed out because the time between this shot and graduation are going to be so different... I never look like myself in photos.

I never understood why they take the picture 11 months before graduation. My advice...matte foundation and powder...anything with shimmer will make you look greasy. Do classic makeup...no fancy blue eye shadow or out there lip color. Go for basic and pretty. Otherwise...you will look back at your picture in years to come and wonder what the hell you were thinking. (gray smokey eyes and red lipstick..together..what was I thinking!?!)

I think I'm just going to put on some really light shadow and mascara, matte foundation, and pinkify my lips a little bit since they're naturally not pink or red or normal; you're right --I have found that in most cases, too much makeup makes you look clownish in photos.

I'm not going to put much effort into the makeup --as long as I dont look like a Russian china doll, I'm good. They blur your face 'for effect' and to make all your zits and physical imperfections disappear... I'll look like a barbie anyway. (Good or bad thing? :p )

Well...you are getting some real shots done later...just play the game and smile for the yearbook picture...then take whatever pics you want

My high school was very conservative and we all had to deal with the classic Glamour Shots pose for the senior photo.

Then I joined the service and flipped through friends' yearbooks who came from more progressive schools where the senior pics were much more individualized. I was jel. :(

If any of you have ever gotten bored, I'm sure you've gone hunting online, looking for something to cure your boredom, right? Well, that happened to me the other day, so I started skimming YouTube, and found this!

She has countless tutorials on how to do certain makeup sets on your face, and styles for varying events. I absolutely adore this girl.

I like that she pointed out in that video that the brush she liked the most was the cheapest. When I worked at Ulta, the girls who demonstrated the makeup and were usually the ones to suggest product to customers always suggested the expensive stuff because in their minds more expensive automatically meant the best option. But that's not always the case.

Very true. I hadn't really been focusing on the brushes, seeing as I was curious about the makeup, but now that you mention it, she does use the cheapest one from the bunch there. I remember the one I watched, I think it was either the eyeglasses one or the masquerade one, she uses the same brush without pause for like, three shades. No need to buy the same brush multiple times.

    I love Michelle Phan! :)

Does anyone have any tips for dark circles under the eyes? I use Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation which I find pretty effective for uneven spots on my face, but it doesnt seem to do enough for under my eyes.

It's like those dark rings are tattooed.

if the rings under your eyes have a bluish tint, you'll want to put something with a base color that is opposite that on the color wheel. I am thinking red, but I'm a little rusty. They make concelaers now that have yellow, green, and pink bases, and choosing an opposite color will make it go away! Good luck!

    Agreed.

I put my concealer on under my eyes and then add foundation over it. Works much better than foundation alone.

Sleep. :p I have no idea! I was a vegetarian for a while and I got the dark circles like crazy! But then when I started eating meat again they went away...

So, instead of recommending a make-up thing, maybe try taking some vitamin B tablets too. It'll probably help reduce them instead of just covering them. :) And the Dream Matte Mousse Foundation is AMAZING. I love that stuff...the mineral powder foundation is also fantastic. It does great at covering, but it feels really light and un-caked.

Well, for my eyes I usually start with a Mac studio sculpt concealer to get a great matte look and lose the rings. Then I apply a mocha colored eyeshadow on the lids to define shape. Because my eyes are green, I will sometimes use earthy tones and purples to get a bigger pop, but without being obnoxious. I use a pot of aqua black (I think Forever Makeup is the brand) and a slanted brush for eyeliner, because I like the cat-eye look, yet I hate pure liquid eyeliner. I usually go in and fill the spots my brush can't reach with a stick of drugstore eyeliner afterward. I try to go light on the lower lid. Then I slap on some mascara, curl, and va va voom. :U

Yeah, it's because I have a vitamin B12 deficiency that I didn't know about, so when I stopped eating meat my body started to rely on my iron levels. And when my iron levels dropped, it made my skin paler and little things like bruises, dark circles, etc. become more apparent.

^ I used to have to take iron pills....t'was annoying. I am also a very pale lass.

So I'm getting a bit bored with using my eyeliner in the same way everyday in that 'cat-eye' style. I could do egyption style, which i love, but it's fussy, smudges alot because I have watery eyes, and plus it's not all that different from cat-eye. Plus, I've done it before.

I love using eyeliner - but I need to change my makeup style. I'm bored with it.

I love bold eyes - it's a must, for me.

    Any suggestions?
