Personally, I went for "lee-ark-a". Anywho...
    Emily Measured Inches Longer Yesterday.

My username is my writer's pseudonym. I've used it on everything I've written for about a year now. 'Zhivago' isn't to do with the fact I'm at medical school really, it's a tribute to Boris Pasternak (my blog is titled Dostat Chernil, which is taken from one of his poems. It means 'take up your pen'). And Michel (mee-shell) is one that had been floating around for a while really, there's no real reasoning behind it.
My real name, incidentally, is Joseph Ball. Wouldn't you want to get rid of that?

As I am a contender for the most boring man on earth prize, my "code" name is my first initial, my last name and PFD is for Providence Fire Department. It's a name I was given for an on-line course years ago. zzzzzz....

yes!... more than once, i believe... but as new members join us all the time, i guess you can be forgiven for making us oldsters repeat ourselves...

my name is 'maia' and i'm a mamma of 7 birth-kids, plus too-many-to-count others who've 'adopted' me for helping/mentoring them... thus, 'mammamaia'... can't get much simpler than that, can it?

    love and hugs, maia

    not from me... :p

Rory is my horse's name, and I just really like it.
And I have actually never seen Gilmore Girls. There is apparently a character named Rory. Who knew?

    I laughed. :D
But I'm a computer dork anyways.

And Rory, I love horses. I wish I owned my own! I can afford a decent horse if I saved up enough money, but I cant afford to keep up board fees. I ride my trainer's horses a few times a week, however. I'm actually not bad! I once rode a $100,000 horse that my trainer and I were breaking --she sold her for thrice the price she bought her! You'd better believe that I was terrified of "breaking" her. ...Her name was, appropriately, Diva.

And Trojan, I'm much more interested in your avatar than your name! Unique, that's for sure! :)
Edit: You just answered it. :p

    Off topic. Mercurial fails. :p

In all seriousness though, I love thie origins of some of these names, and as a brand new member here, it's a nice way to get to know everyone!

Zorell has nothing to do with Superman, or it would have been Zor-El (it's been confused for such before); but, with Victoria for name, you get sickoff meeting yourself (in your aunt, your stepsister, your nemesis, your ex's new-girlfriend...etc) and I happen to really like the letter z.

All of my psuedonyms are Z:
    Zorell
    Zorelle
    Zora Ele
Ziflene (we don't talk about her)...

This message was brought to you by the letter "Z" <more corny jokes:D>

Without meaning to sound ignorant, how do I change the bit where it says 'Member' for me, but 'Mistress of Macabre' for Torana in the post above? Just above the avatar?

My assumption is that this is a pay feature, yes?

My username stems from my obsession with spaghetti and various noodly forms of food. More specifically, it was my pseudonym back when I was a political writer. It came from my Pastafarian religion, largely. My nickname is also Noodle, so it works out well.

Michel, I'm pretty sure only Supporters can do that, yes. At least that's what I've seen from browsing around. I probably shouldn't answer this though since I don't really know.

    Yup. Cost ya money. :D

It's really inexpensive and it's worth it to know you're helping to keep the forums going.

    Lost Pyrate

I find it so interesting to see where people come up with their way of identifying themselves. I think it would make a great psycho-study.

As for Lost Pyrate, it comes from the name of the novel I am currently working on. The reason there is a "y" in the name is that there is a great rum called pyrat rum, of which I am a big fan. Lost is the general sense I feel in life, just trying to find my way, figure out who I am and where I am going. I'm 35, so you'd think I'd have figured it out by now! Not yet! The main character is morally lost, trying to identify what is really right and wrong, and which is greater, love or justice. Poor guy, he may never figure it out. Also, I'm a big fan of pirates in general. I like the fantastical element, the idea, the romantic aspect of pirates, the rock stars of the oceans.

--This has been made, just got deleted in a big accidental info dump thing a few weeks ago.

The Z in my name is the first letter of my real name.

The Creative in my name symbolizes that I like to be creative...lol simple.

    Z ;)
