Everybody you want to put on ignore are the ones whose every post it's your duty to go over with a fine tooth comb anyway
strictly you can add a mod to ignore but you’ll still see their messages incidentally mods can ignore people ( apart from other mods) but we don’t because we need to see what’s going on even when we don’t like it on topic at our wedding mrs moose selected you and me by the plain white Ts and chasing cars by snow patrol…. I said we should have the birdie song by the tweets and silver machine by hawkwind but somehow I didn’t carry the day
Last year a friend of mine had “ Finish your sentences” by Carly Pierce and Michael Ray. Possibly the most nauseating song ever I got myself into hot water at the time by mentioning the Carly and Michaels marriage lasted about 6 months after he cheated on her with practically everything in a skirt.
I get the feeling that "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Martin Gaye is a wedding song. I hate that song with a passion - because it's the hold music for DHL, to whom I have spent many, many hours on hold to.
On the subject of rubbish music. All the things streaming on the radio considered “trendy” right now is not real music and it’s so annoying.
So that's at least one advantage we plebeians have over our lords and masters. WE can put people on ignore. I don't know if it works with mods, though. Haven't had occasion to try it, and as I don't know how to UNignore someone, I'm loathe to test it.
where the message usually says ignore member, on a member you are ignoring it will say unignore...click it again to unignore them
I was gonna say more like those crazy guys who sit next to you on the bus and you can't tell if they're talking to you or themselves... but OK! Legend! Sure, why not?
Also, if you have somebody on Ignore and certain threads don't make sense (because you can't see their posts) there's a little link at the bottom of the page that says 'View Ignored Posts'. Plus where somebody quoted them you can read what they said.
On some versions of Xenforo, you can't even see the fact that an ignored person has made a post, or the fact that someone has quoted them (although you can see what they wrote outside the quote) - so conversations make even less sense. We could see that here if the forum ever gets upgraded.
That's the way it should be, I think. I've never Ignored anyone (here), but if I have to, I don't even want to know that person still exists. Same for members who are permanently banned. I'll put up with a little thread confusion.
On this version you can't see that the person has posted, and if someone quotes them the new post just appears without any hint that it's a quote. There's a little thing at the bottom of each page to "show ignored content" if you want to. So congrats, you aren't on my ignore list!
Except now those crazy guys are likely talking to someone on their little earbud telephones. Woman walking toward me one time made eye contact and said a big, "Hi, how are you?" type comment. I answered I was fine; how was she? She gave me such a look, then said (apparently to the thin air), "Some random woman just said hello to me." I have a super power: even without an ignore button, I can ignore posts from people whose comments don't interest me.
In more than 20 years of participation in several internet forums, I have only put one person on "ignore" -- ever. It's extremely unlikely that I would ever UNignore that person -- ever.
Trite, I guess, but people who leave a voicemail asking for a call back, but are never at their desks.
Along the same line: people who leave a voicemail asking for a call back who then rush through their phone number, mumbling badly, with their voice trailing off at the end because they're already hanging up the phone on their end, and they never repeat their number to be sure it's clear in the message. But it's URGENT!
I thought you said you were moving out to the burbs… last time you posted your family had already moved
