In my experience with tipping in America, you're guilted into it no matter the level of service given (it has to be extremely bad to justify little or no tip), so it really is almost a requirement, even down to the percentage a person is expected to leave their server! Tipping has become so ingrained in American culture that to not tip or not tip enough percentage is seen as extremely rude. It may not be a legal requirement, but it is a cultural requirement. Anyway, this restaurant had it written on their menu (I forgot the actual wording, it's been a long time), it said xx gratuity would be added to the final bill, which it was. How they justify it? By being American restaurant owners in a culture that doesn't tip, haha! Kidding. Tipping does annoy me, not sure about the "shouldn't" part, (talking of the title of this thread) but fyi, when I'm in America I do tip where culturally required.
I think the whole tipping things is blown out of proportion. If we didn't tip, things would just cost as much as they do now, plus the average tip. Tipping stays around because people like to gamble. Sure they'll probably get 15% on average, but what if, just maybe, a $100 gets dropped? That's the kind of thing that pushes back the dark thoughts for a day and keeps life worth living. ETA: Also, tax free, yeah?
When you realize that both glasses were poisoned and they've been spending the last few years building an immunity to iocane powder.
Another news report about the non-story of the decade: the 'college admissions scandal'. Wait, rich people have advantages the rest of us don't? OMG! How long has this been going on?!
Is that show still on where the one girl peed herself on the dance floor and instead of going home in shame got some perfume to spray on herself down there and continued to party? Anyway, I find her popularity annoying even though I will never have to interact with her and so will never be forced to either be rude to her or (even worse) pretend that she didn't do anything that would offend me.
There should be a license for people to wear certain clothing, for example, that woman wearing tight spandex showing off all her rolls of fat, I think she should be either fined or imprisoned for such an exhibition.
People who (that?) don't drink from bottles in the proper way, wrapping both their top and bottom lip around the neck to form a seal, instead of resting it lightly on their bottom lip only. These people don't understand how a vacuum works.
It was just a man standing outside this office - he was drinking ‘designer water.’ I would have preferred an old style water bottle - like ‘military issue’ - like the olden days Yes - but I agree ‘pop’ drinkers are annoying also - occasional ‘sneaky’ /annual cola excepted. Tea/coffee/alcohol/tap water ONLY. And tomato juice. I like tomato juice a lot - even with the dangers.
Looking for a case for your tablet with a specific model number, only to find none of the cases for that model fit your tablet because for some unholy reason they only make them for the base model and unbeknownst to you you've been sold a Revision B model or some similar rubbish.
My Taiwanese-made Giant bicycle is sold in the "Japan-only" version here. As is my Korean-made Samsung Galaxy phone.
When you ask the internet a very straightforward and clearly defined question and one of two things happen (and it’s only ever these two things); you get a series of contradictory and conflicting answers, or every answer is a three page article detailing the hows and whys, and history, and origins, so that you spend 10 minutes looking for the actual answer before giving up.
LOL I was trying to figure out what the steering angle for a standard motorcycle was recently. I found a thread elsewhere on a well-regarded general information, facts, and trivia forum where someone asked just that. "How far do the handlebars on a motorcycle turn?" Exactly what I needed to know, but the thread turned into a hash of bike steering theory, motorcycle safety, lean angles, suspension geometry re: fork angle and riding style, etc.... Eventually I was able to parse out that it might be somewhere between 45 and 90 degrees. So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
I recently decided my favorite color is green. I guess I advanced the blue, grey, black, stainless steel decor stage. Which means I need to redo most thems or things in my house. Does that make me strange?
