Things you recently bought or got

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by mashers, Sep 6, 2018.

We had this thread on another forum I used to use, and it was fun. I'll start. I've been on a bit of a spree recently :ohno:

Ghost In The Shell (2017) on Blu-Ray
I haven't actually seen the original, but I saw this version with a friend and fell in love with it.
    image.png

Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049 on Blu-Ray
I love the original, but BR 2049 is one example of a sequel which in my opinion was better than the original.
    image.png image.png

Crash Bandicoot Nsane Trilogy on Switch

I played the original on PS back in the 90s on a French exchange trip. I didn't get to finish it (or play the others) before I came back, so it's great to be able to play through these now in HD.

    Skyrim on Switch

I was kind of disappointed when I completed Breath Of The Wild, and a friend recommended I try Skyrim. So far I have escaped from a dragon down some underground tunnels, killed some torturers, been attacked by evil giant spiders and crept past a sleeping bear. So so far this game is amazing.

Some stretching tapers up to 10mm, and this cool wooden flesh tunnel
For when I get my right lobe up to the correct size.

An LED lighting kit for my Lego camper van

Please share your recent acquisitions so we can all revel in glorious materialism

Replacing my old Kindle 4 with a new Paper White was the first and only significant thing I've purchased since the hurricane (yes, I'm a broken record, storm, storm, storm...) but I love the Paper White. My old one had buttons to click to go from page to page and the screen sometimes left a ghost impression of the text from the prior page. The new one has touch screen and doesn't have ghost letters and I splurged for the 3G. It goes everywhere with me. :bigwink:

I got a package from England this week. I won't go into detail about what it's contents were, but I can mention this charging cable in purple and gold. I think it's about three meters long. I've never seen charging cables like that before and it's everywhere!

Last time I bought something for myself was... I was at IKEA this week buying a pillow (technically for Lost) and a lamp (that I needed since I moved in here last December).

oh yes, it's a great thing. as long as you set it to refresh after every page, it won't imprint prior pages. it fits in most of my pockets, and downloads are lightning fast.

Two new cosplays (Khaleesi, GoT, and Goth Annie from LoL), as well as a wig for Jinx from LoL. A few sets for photoshoots, and general adult-house-stuff like washing up liquid because I'm an adult, damnit.

I'm buying tons of stuff for my new house. I've ordered some patio furniture. This weekend, I have to get a lawn tractor for mowing and toting stuff all over the place. I've got a ton of grass here to take care of. The deer help, I hope. There's a family of three of them that hang around quite a bit.

A few spare OTG cables, memory cards, and lens caps. Also, a new front drive shaft for my pickup because of course I had to.

I used to have the PS2 version of that game and loved it! Tell you what, come visit and I promise I'll play it with you. Also Katamari Damamcy.

You couldn't make it yourself for that.

Deal :) I still need to buy the drum. But I can use the Switch joycons for now. There are some drums on eBay for £20 less which I suspect may be knock-offs, so I'll wait til I get the game before buying one so I can actually test it :)

    Good finds!

Some of the things I recently purchased are:

Monster Magnet's God Says No LP from Amazon. Good record if you're into space rock, stoner rock or heavy metal.

Astoria Alisia pinot grigio, an imported French wine from AJ's Fine Foods.

Haken meet and greet tickets from Omerch. If you're into progressive metal and djent metal, Haken is a great band. I'd start with their album Affinity.

That's all I got for now but I love consumerism so i'm sure there will be more. :)

My last purchase (not counting food) was the stand mixer that's been at the centre of the drama I've been sharing on the Not Happy thread.

It's a Kenwood Chef Elite (the smaller model, since there's usually just two of us). Hopefully the new courier will succeed tomorrow.

I got the actual charger for the cable I was sent. It's charges a phone really fast. I always just assumed that chargers were crappy in general, but apparently I never looked om the right places!

I haven't bought, but I do want a harmonica... or mouth organ (whichever of those is the cheap version). I reckon I could learn to play one of those things.

I'm thinking about getting the one you blow into one end and it has a mini keyboard. What the heck are those called?
