More charity shop dvds: Die Hard With a Vengeance (the only DH film I have any time for after the original) and Stargate (cos I've never seen it).
Maybe I'm thinking of DH2. Oh crap, it was 'Die Harder'! You got the last one of the series. That was pretty good.
New mouse with blue lighting. It likes to flicker when not in use, and drives me mad(der) than I already am!
I'm not man enough to have black tape (this is the type of thing kept in a man drawer, IIRC), and I'm not goth enough to stock black nail polish.
This. I've never been a goth and wear black nail polish a lot. Useless fact: Black nail polish was "the" thing worn by fashionable women in 1932. Standard female "goth" makeup is based on vintage glamour makeup from that time period, and black nail polish was trendy for a season or two in 1932 after Revlon* created opaque "nail enamel" in "automobile colors" by adding pigment to nail polish. (Before this, nail polish was clear--even pink or red.) *other companies may have done it, but Charles Revson of Revlon is usually credited with it.
I love little snippets like this, especially from the 20s - 50s. I had a look on amazon for Joan Wyndham's war diaries, after hearing extracts from it in a documentary. Apparently she wrote furiously about civilian life during the blitz, but typically it's out of print so what copies they have start at about ÂŁ70. I have no idea why I just told you all that.
I bought some cold-weather clothes and boots because I don't live in Southern California any more. I live in Washington State, almost in Canada, and winter is coming. No more going to the grocery story wearing sandals.
Me too. I love reading about that period. I'll look for her stuff. OT, my most recent purchases were Raven Red nail polish (a vintage shade of wine red from the 40's), a new water heater, and repiping the plumbing of the entire house to bring it up to code.
Don't even get me started... Me to Mom at least twice a year: "Do you need anything for the house? Any repairs or anything I can help you out with?" Mom: "No, everything's fine." [Cut to after Mom's death] Surprise!!! Moral: Never believe parents when they say everything's fine. The more stubborn and independent they are, the more you're gonna find wrong with the damn house.
New gaming computer. Lenovo i7, 16 Gigs RAM, GeForce 1080. The i7 is a 2016 chip, which I got because the computer was such a good deal. Also bought a 32 pack of canned cat food (for the cats). Also got a Bordeaux blend that wasn’t worth the price.
