I'm just wondering what is on your mind. Any thoughts, tips, preferences. Do you write ensembles or prefer to focus on your Mulder and Scully? How do you organize the records of your characters if you have tons of them? Do you keep files with information about each one? Do you write summaries of what each did in the past episode and where they are now? What's your approach to the whole thing?
what are you referring to as 'ensembles' and 'episodes'?... are you referring to tv series 'episodes'?... or novels in a series, featuring the same characters?
I've always found that stories with lots of characters often have more of an epic feel to them, if it's done right. As for character bios, I just keep what's important on record, stuff like: No more LEFT hand after chapter 3, or Grew up on a wallaby farm. Because sometimes it's easy to forget certain details, and it really disappoints the reader/viewer when it happens.
I have legions of characters I'm still making profiles on. When humans, metahumans, titans, gods, angels, demons, and beasts are common characters you tend to build up quite a cast. Google Docs, Folders, and Online storage are your best friend.
