Over on Facebook, I'm a member of no less than four book cover design groups, where I lurk watching for artists that I like so when I need someone's services, I'll have a pre-shortened list. It seems that every one of the artists or design studios wants a brief about the book, after which they will provide a sketch and ideas, hoping for a contract. It seems like that model needs to be flipped, so I created a group where authors can post briefs and ask artists to offer premade covers or bid on the work.
