    Thread Tags

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by Tenderiser, Apr 28, 2017.

Over the past few weeks I've noticed threads with loads of weird tags. When I created one of my own I realised why - the forum automatically assigns tags from your chosen title, unless you actively delete them before you post.

I don't see the point of automatically generated tags; it takes a human to work out what people might be searching for to find a thread like the one you're creating. Who, for example, is going to search "who" in the hopes of finding advice about writing female characters?

I would't have said anything but they're irrationally annoying me...

ETA: Ya know, I think it's annoying me because I feel like Yoda and/or Rain Man are narrating every thread:

    I've also seen "the" tagged.

It does seem a little excessive...

ETA: And now that I read both of the lines you've posted in your example, I see "the" is tagged in one of them.

In my defense, there were two whole lines. What am I, a reading machine or something?

I'm going to guess that in a recent update this feature had a default switch to "on" that was previously defaulted to "off" and @Daniel just missed it. I know his preference for as clean a look as possible in the forum's GUI and this doesn't feel like a very "Daniel" thing.

    So... Daniel! :-D
