Real name: Helga von Pfaffengraf. She took the name Karen Harper in order to persue a career as a country singer.

 

It's a french name but okay.

I'm aware it's French, which is probably what made me think ballet, but most big ballet companies are in Russia.

 

So french but moved to Russia? I mean, alright.

Ophelia Downes, an orphan girl self made Victorian; like a female Oliver Twist only grew up to be rich, powerful and scorned; a pariah who doesn't care fore she is now mean, bitter, but, I'd still like to talk to her, she's not evil; She's really tough and can darken ones day since she lives in a society that doesn't give her the vote, she won't be kind; she'd be hard working, hard on others, rich and protected, a world away sitting in the luxury of her customised stage coach in her courtyard as her employees run the business for her before she departs back to her mansion.
She's not liked, she's respected, she's not hated, she's feared; and that's just the way she likes it.
She's a brunette with long dark hair she wears in a bun.

Much of the order and information organizations persisted. East Germany (DDR?) had more European intel than anyone, so was assimilated whole. Her father was a local 'constable' type, similar to a code inspector (wrote citations). He preferred the functional order Nazi occupation brought to Austria, and attempted to advance himself as a sympathizer. He switched to communist, of course, then Jessie's Hungarian mother got pregnant, and he lost favor, and was outed by his community. They 'fled' to the US. He is... unpleasant.

Dan is Jessie's boyfriend. He's the MC. They are smitten with each other.

A young innocent little girl, perhaps 14 or 15, with a penchant for skinning cats and torturing birds in her basement. She comes from a formerly [ancient] noble family of France which now lives as exiles in England ever since the 1789 revolution. If there is a movie, book, story, or otherwise, she is definitely the secret villain that is quietly poisoning everyone in the home by a dose of cyanide or arsenic quietly slipped into the mouth at the dead of night.
