Well, I haven't seen a thread made about this author or book. I read through the series a little while ago, and I was 'in love.' I was just wondering some other opinions on the first (second or third as well) book and maybe even some thoughts about the upcoming book in August or the movie in December.
Hmm, well, I only red Twilight, like, a month ago. And New Moon about 3 days ago. Though throughout 3/4s of New Moon I was wondering why the heck I'm reading it because absolutely nothing was happening. But then again, my favourite part of the entire series is the simple cheesiness of the Edward/Bella stuff - it's cute. the rest is pretty good at times, at others downright annoying. I do want to se the movie when it comes out - even if only to see how much they messed it up Though I've a feeling it may even be better that the book. I'm not that happy with the casting though. I mean, Robert Pattinson?!
New Moon was the weakest of the three, in my opinion, though I read through New Moon the fastest? It was awkward. The end of New Moon was pretty good, and I'm really looking forward to the movie, myself.
I like it. The storyline is easy to follow and since I can't stay focused with the horribly complex romance novels I've read in the past, the simplicity of Twilight I found very attractive. My plausibilty sensor goes off alot though. Namely because all of Edwards arguments against making Bella a vampire make no sense given the situations of the book (They say love makes you crazy, but stupid? hmmmm). I was a little sad that Alice, Bella, and Edward are practically the only characters who get any degree of developement. Most of the other characters sort of feel like their just there.
Jacob only appears like, three times in Twilight. Heck, his dad has a better role in the story than Jacob does. I know he gets major expansions in the sequel novels, but I haven't read them yet. Yeah your right about Charlie though, but he's so boooorrriiinnnggg.
I hope so. I know nothing about Rosalie, and Esme and Alice are my favorite characters (I swear, from what little I've seen of Esme, she's like a clone of my mom... and Alice just plain rulz ).
Does Blade show up? That would be awesome *drools* JK. That would be kind of sad cause as we all know, Blade is unstoppable and he'd probably kill everyone XD
Oh, sorry, I was thinking about New Moon, never mind. Yeah, there isn't much done in Twilight at all.
Ah. This is wear I have heard of the book/s. I have it...(Twilight, I think) >< LOL. It's ok. Nothing special though, in my opinion. But tha't probably cause it might be for a younger audience than my twenty somethign years. (Not saying it's badly written or anything) But it did take me a bit to get into it.
You can talk about all the books in this thread. Yeah, Twilight was made for younger audience. Nothing too graphic
So I read Twilight. It wasn't nearly as good as I thought it would be. The writing quality was awful, as Meyer has no real skill at stringing words together. The only part I found myself enjoying was their romantic afternoon in the meadow. The villain, James, was a joke. He was a stock character that was completely predictable and lacked any kind of originality. I felt the same way about the main character. In fact, none of the characters really stood out in the slightest as anyone original or well written. :\
I really like the books, they were one of the first romance novels I had ever read. The secound was the one with the strongest emotion for me (and I liked it the most), but it also flowed the worst. Bella goes from her semi-normal life with Jake to being hurled off to Italy to save Edward from vampires, not extremely consistent. The third also had a bit of the same problem, but only because it focused mostly on relationships throughout the beginning, and not so much on the action part. I think that once Stephanie learns to balance the action and romance her books will be masterpieces.
Her new book, The Host, is gonig to be an interesting read. For anyone that has read the book, they have Chapter One from Edward's point of view on her website in her "other books" section. www.stepheniemeyer.com
So, yeah, I'm reading Eclipse for the second time now. I can't wait for the next one. I can't believe they're making a movie! That's so dumb! I want to see how they screw it up and OMG. Really? Cedric Diggory as Edward? That's just weird...
New Moon was the weakest, I think that has become a fact with just about everyone who has read the series. But I did the same thing. I pulled an all nighter on a school night reading New Moon...I don't get it either. -Alex
New Moon was the weakest, I agree. I read it the fastest, but it was the weakest, I don't understand. I understood it, but it was sort of jumpy. Goes from loving, to leaving, to loving again, to saving, to loving? Too fast. Not a good transition.
