    UK synopsis and query letter

OK my new copy of the Childrens Writers and Artists Yearbook 2011 arrived this morning and I have read it but now I am confused about the synopsis and query letter.

The way it is written it looks like the synopsis and query letter are the same thing. Unless otherwise specified by an agent or publisher it should be a sheet of A4 paper outlining your story and give some autobiographical information about myself. Have I got this right?

EDIT Fortunatly I bought the Yearbook as well has a whole chapter in it lol Now makes sense, I am to include an introduction, about 400 words about my story and about 200 words about myself. That is a synopsis. There is also a covering letter:)
