I'm currently doing my third year at St Andrews University in International Relations. It's a good course, shame I can't seem to write a good essay Oh and good luck!
Kit - I find it a little strange you haven't applied to the same course at each university? It will be pot luck almost what you end up studying - does that not bother you or have you chosen which establishments you wish to attend rather than which course you wish to study? I applied to Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, York and Nottingham if memory serves all to do the French & Lingustics. However I then ballsed the A-Levels and had to go through the clearing system to get a place somewhere. Three places offered me finally Bangor, Reading and Newcastle. There was only one winner in that list for me and I went to Newcastle. What was especially difficult for me is that I was working abroad when the results came out so couldn't apply through clearing myself, and luckily my grandfather solved it all for me. Bit of a life saver.
Not really, most universities give you room to change you course - well Scottish ones do. In my first two years at St Andrews i could study two other subjects along with my desired subject, so if i wanted to i could have changed my degree to psychology or history.
When I went to university I started out in history, and then made it a poli sci-history double major about 2 years later. So going with a general potpourri shouldn't be a problem.
Lol. The titles are different but I went for university and course content more than anything. The course I'd really like to do is History, Spanish and French with equal weighting but the only place that offers that is Nottingham really. Failing that i'd do three languages. All the courses I have listed are some mix of three languages or two languages and some format of history .
I'm in the U.S., but I too am applying. New York University (1st choice) - Business Marketing Northeastern University (2nd choice) - Business Marketing Boston University - Business Marketing Drexel University - Business Administration Bradley University - Business Administration I actually haven't finished applying to them all, but I will be in a week or so.
I'm already enrolled in college here in the States as well. I'm still working on my general eds., but I plan on majoring in either graphic design or english.
Well, the college is expensive as all hell and I'm only doing general education. I could stay home and it would be about 1/15th the cost, I believe. The university is in Chicago. It's quite troublesome moving back and forth all by myself with all my luggage (walking and being on the 'L'), and it's going to be worse once snow moves in. Which brings me to the weather that's soon to come. I'm going to die. In addition, there is another problem that I shan't mention. Heh. The school is quite nice, it's just that I believe I can find something better suited for me.
I'm in Canada and currently doing my second year in College of North Atlantic. Next year I'll be attending Memorial University of Newfoundland to continue my studies and hopefully get into the falculty for teaching junior high/high school.

Finally sent in the application fee for the first three of mine. Hopefully I'll hear back from them soon.
Just out of interested, what are the application fees like in the US/Other places? Here, its £10 to apply to one or £15 to apply to between two and five. You can't apply to more than five.
In Western Australia, you apply to uni through an organisation called TISC (Tertiary Institutions Service Centre), to 'use' their service you have to pay a $20 application fee by a particular date. If you pay past that date you have to pay another amount, which is some $100 more. In Perth, all universities except for private universities, use tisc to find out who are the most suitable for university, ' suitability' usually based on TER, (teritary entrance rank) which is a translation of your TES (tertiary entrance score) which is gained roughly by adding half your school marks and half your university enterance exam marks together.
Got offers now from both my courses at Nottingham, both conditional - quite a bit lower than expected. Notts is one of the few universities that actually offers History, French and Spanish as a degree and they have 25 places a year but I got offered one
Congrats baby I don't have any offer from Notts yet, but they might be waiting until January for the results of the LNAT.
