I had this idea for a vampire story pop into my head the other day, so I started to write down the things I was thinking. I have character names/personality/image, but what I need is the name of a vampire clan. The vampires in this clan are called: Alec; Kern; Raven; Mysti; and Dusk, but I still need a clan name. Anyone got any ideas? Fantasy Girl
It depends on what you want to say about the vampires that formed the clan. Were they vengeful? They were the Vengari. Were they hidden? They were the Shadistin. Were they protectors? They were the Gioardianne. The way I came up with these was just grabbing a word and giving it a little vampireyness. The words I used were vegeance, shadow, and guardian. I don't know if this helps but I hope so.
That's a cool idea. Here let me try: If they're warriors, The Lewarria Hunters, The Hunatti Melancholic, The Melockavic Mines don't sound as cool as yours. It's super fun though.
I'll give it a try T&W, never been good at that type of stuff though. lol. I might steel one of yours
A while ago I came up with some clans, but I won't use them anymore. I hope they work for you, and if they don't, do what I did: Search for Eastern Europan words (Hungarian, Belgian, Albanian, etc.) and alter them. Here they are: Menesis - Most religious clan, greatly respected. Skadus - The most numerous; common vampires. Derkas - Biggest, dark-skinned. Relatively peaceful. Vaengr - First clan, small numbers. They have wings. Furer - Most feared clan. Savage and bestial, enjoy killing.
Thanks Marcelo, none of these fit the temprement of my characters, but I'll have a look and see what I can find. Thank you
Thinking a little outside the box here but you could try looking up rich historical eastern european family names and adapting them to sound a little more vampiric. I'm tired, thats the best method i could come up with
I had a vampire clan named the "Aedaisti" for a short story I did. I cant remember where I came up with the name but it might have been a twist on a latin name generator.
I like the idea of using old family names from Europe either as they are or adapting them a little. I understand the desire to be original, but names that are a little too far out there almost sound cliche to me, even if they really are completely original names, and especially if they're tongue twisters that are a pain in the butt to even say. Using names that are based on real family names should keep them feeling realistic and should hopefully make them "sound nice" as well. For example, two families (or "clans" if you like to call them that) of vampires in my fictional universe are the Mendalvs and the Urisis. I made both names up, but a Google search reveals that there are actually people out there with those surnames. That made me feel kind of good lol. In the end, the choice is yours. Happy name hunting.
Thank you, everyone, for all the sugestions. I have not yet got a name for my clan, but have decided to use all the meathods of naming and find which name I prefer. Architectus - Well the story is based on the Vampire Wars Of The South mentioned in Eclips (book three of the Twilight Saga) but has nothing to do with the actual books. None of the characters are mentioned, just the meathods of fighting and such. The clan itself is quite odd. It is a mixture of all three types of vampires, which is unusual as they do not usually socialise together. In a way they are very much like the Cullens, they don't like to take human life and like to keep the peace, but they are forced to drink human blood as animal blood is like poison to them, therefore they only feed when 100% necessary. In the story they are going round trying to stop the fighting, joining with other clans later in the story who are also doing the same thing. So I suppose they are a good clan... but something happens and the force behind their juorney changes, so thats why I'm having trouble naming them.
