Congratulations to everyone for making the effort to submit.
Careful what you wish for - this story was hilarious and the prompt was fantastically incorporated. This part made a particular impression
    - that was excellent. The last line was an ingenious incorporation of the prompt and done with incredible craft!
. Which clinches this story as one of my top two.
    Good job, author.

Snookums - creative choice of POV! I loved the insight into the thoughts of this ‘fearsome little beast’ captured in italics. Amusing that he describes his owner as a ‘food dispenser’ - as sometimes seems to be the case with cats. This is story was funny and a pleasure to read. Once again, a fantastic end alluding to the prompt with much subtlety:
. No doubt this will frighten his owner! Great job!

    I'm on time for once!

    In time.

There were about four I really liked. In the end, I chose the one that struck a simple but powerful emotional chord.

    Good work, everyone.

One day of voting left and a three way tie! Let’s see if that will be broken before closure!

I was just a few hours too late :( I'd have added another story to the multi-tie vote :(

I'll put up a tie breaker poll later today. That will be open for 24 hours.
