"In lieu of an argument, please accept this hypocritical dismissal"

You're the one who jumped into this fight man. No one forced you to post here.

I am sorry Asher, but you have put a mate of mine on ignore, and you really are not someone I want to know.

    I'm crushed. Truly. Just devastated.

Looks like you can't actually support the argument you revived then?

Deleted. Was an unnecessary and public gripe that should have been handled in private.

When considering the force of a blow, mass is only one factor. Another factor, as mentioned by others, is the size of the contact point through which the energy is transferred to the target. Yet another factor in combat, then, is the speed at which the strike is delivered.

And the technique of the person swinging the sword. You can add significant weight through correct technique. In Kendo it's a big factor the way you "step" forward and the timing of the swing in concert with the rest of your body movement.

Absolutely. Technique and physical conditioning combine to produce as much acceleration of mass toward the target as possible. I wouldn't want to be the one to test a suit of medieval armour against a seasoned kendoka!

Getting back to the topic of tired weapon tropes, I saw this in another forum and it cracked me up.

I just started watching Star Wars again, from Episode I.

    :meh:

Obi Wan seem to keep losing his light sabre... WTF? He's meant to be this really skilful Jedi Knight or something?

I really did not expect these movies to be worse the second time around, but that's what I am finding.

Looking forward to episodes 4-6 next, phew! :D

A trope I dislike in a similar vein is the whole bad guy exposition to good guy. Kill him, twit, and get on with it.
