I was just wandering if anyone was doing NaNoWriMo?

    I looked it up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NaNoWriMo

Basically, you try to write a 50,000 word novel in a single month. I can't say the idea appeals much to me. Cranking out volume has its place - publishing timely best-sellers based on breaking news headlines, etc, but I'd much rather put thought and time into producing something unique rather than being a word mill.

Hmmmmm...if you can, with full force and attention, then it's a good goal encouragement. I don't write such short novels (usually 90k) so yeah, I'm not doing it.

It sounds like something fun to attempt, but I don't know if I'll have time this year. Still, I have had an idea burning a hole in my head for a while now...

I tried to do it last year. I figured that if I just wrote it really fast without putting too much thought into it, I would be able to get through the whole thing. No dice. As is pretty much par for the course for yours truly, I got about 1200 words into it before deciding that my idea was awful, and the project needed to be put out of its misery.

Maybe I'll try again this year.

The idea is that you write the novel with no editing or anything then go back and edit it after you're done. Good in principal... unless you're as nitpicky as me :D
