    htaeD (The Jump)

    Brett was a jumper
    Fourty stories down lay
    Blasted brains and blood
    Trickling down the New York

    The water hoses stop.
    The drips dribble back up
    The sewer pipes. Blood re-
    Enters veins and arteries sew
    Back together. Ambulances leave and
Fire fighters run back to put up their hoses,
The blood now cleans itself up.

Brett’s eyes open in shock and her
Corps pushes off the ground. She is
Breathing. Her heart races and paces
Faster and faster. Up she rushes past stories
    One, two, threefourfive
    Back to forty she flies.
    People swallow their screams, the
    Girl is about to jump!

    She's alive.

    She's still alive.

    And then...

    She jumps.

I remember when she held her paper
    just like i did

right ankle on left knee with the paper spread between
    just like i did

we discussed the world and life and school as she turned the page
    just like i did

when she learns how to read maybe she will hold the paper the right way up
    just like i do.

that thought was destroyed by a car speeding through a school zone
    just like i do.

    Seated on a stone,
    In peaceful serenity,
Before me lies lush blue fields
    And crisp green skies.

    The blocky clouds gallop by,
    As light rain falls from the grass;
And the Sun casts its icy gaze
    On the sweltering snow below.

A calm little place, I must admit,
With silent bees and buzzing butterflies.
The flowers bloom in warmly winter,
And snow flutters in chilly summer.

    Alas! Oh no!
    My time here is short.
    I must return
    To the crazy world
    Of honking cars and
    Jittery streets.

    Longing for serenity again.

Here hangs the bat, upside sat
    Clinging toes, black as coals
Setting sun does night time make
    Open eyes he comes awake

Flapping wings, no songs to sing
    Flying around, skim the ground
‘Til night is gone when comes the sun
Then dark to black, and upside sat

Always the same, never a change
    Hanging around, upside down

I am poor, and fool to the core
the laughing stock of a frigid flock

Men are cruel, my heart is not
my love makes a cold place hot

give me your answers, and I'll give you a question
lightning and chaos gives me direction

I judge not your face, but the frame of your feet
my palms burning on the summer street

It’s been a long and tenuous relationship, a journey of love’s evolution, pursued by a deep seeded desire to amputate this cancerous lesion….

I remember our first introduction, back in the summer of 79, a whirlwind romance destined for destruction from the moment I laid eyes on her! She was cool and inviting, beckoning me to inhale her beauty while partaking in all of her offerings. We loved her idiosyncrasies while we laughed and we joked, as she tried to convince us we were equally yoked!

We looked cool together, the perfect pair as she allowed me to expand and perfect, such an extroverted personality. We had so many engaging conversations together, as we walked hand in hand, while I came to appreciate her perfect blend of sophistication. She possessed that sexy cool everyone tried to achieve, and she led me astray as she made me believe!

I won’t lie, and I must digress, it took a moment getting used to her harsh, no nonsense way of delivering her captivating and compelling nuances. But it was that all consuming ideology, that pushed and prodded me onward, toward a life of social reform, as she convinced and converted saying …all others should conform!”

The years passed by mercilessly, yet her beauty stood firm as we marched on together, making memories and scars to last a lifetime. The road was not always easy I must express, there were many times I would have loved to have said goodbye! But through the thick and the thin, good times and bad, she was always my friend, sometimes all that I had!

She was a rock in times of need as I bought all her charms, she convinced and cajoled it was …death do us part. I believed we could make it, ignoring sage advice, all those lies people spouted as her intense complacency inundated my body. There‘s proof”, they would say, “she’s not any good”, but her soft whispers of deceit, proved where she stood!

“I’ll always be there…” was her favorite phrase, playing relentlessly throughout the depths of my subconscious as she coerced with a self-righteous tenacity. Body won over mind, several times throughout our relationship as I pushed her away. Desire for a healthy existence allowed me to believe she was trash, but try as I may she’d return in a flash!

How can you toss me, look what we’ve been through, I’ve always been here…. I’m one of the few! Can’t you remember the lows and the highs, those were her lines and her deceit was such lies! Yes, she was there, I have admitted, but was it for me? I’m still unrequited!

Days pass to months, night into years and still she is with me…. dispelling my fears! She quenches a thirst down deep in my soul, but now it feels more like she’s burnt a small hole. I don’t love her the same, she’s truly mundane, and inhaling her beauty… comes with such pain!

Our love it is ragged, worn and untrue, yet I sit here and hold her…. what should I do? Her beauty no longer intoxicates my thought, yet with each ragged breath…. the destruction she’s wrought!

There’s light at the end… or so they say, but I must stand firm and throw her away. Put an end to this suffering, my breath she does steal, but how could it be….. this love it’s so real!

So listen my friends as I sit here and cry, it’s never too late… until you die!

When You Stand upon Your Head

When you stand upon your head,
you tell your boss what to do instead.
Politicians obey their own laws to the letter
and M. Night Shyamalan keeps getting better.

When you stand upon your head,
John Lennon’s alive and Yoko is dead.
The kids go to work and adults go to school,
where hip-hop is dorky and polka is cool.

When you stand upon your head,
you sleep in the toilet and poop in your bed.
Time moves backwards, Sarah Palin is smart,
and people say “Bless you” whenever you fart.

    So get those feet up and come give it a try;
come see what it’s like where Kim Jong’s a nice guy.
Are you pissed at Obama? Do your stocks make you frown?
Don’t like how it is? Turn it all upside-down!
