    Sticks In The Stream

    Despite social contract, no matter
    roseate ideals of Enlightenment,
Man is born unto cold chains, unaware
the pure power of the inexact.

And so it goes, body clock determined
by convention, a tool – never a toy.
    Star-strewn segues to somewhere:
finally the key and the lock.

(eight hours of potential) (the only unbroken circle)
Oh to lose one’s way and remain shadow.
Come kingly Oneiroi! Make me eternal,
    if only for tonight.

    Prisoner for Love

    Her beauty was without compare,
She wore feathers in her raven hair.
Her ruby lips, those emerald eyes,
I could but naught believe her lies.

I listened enthralled to her words of love,
And thought her an angel from up above.
Heed my warning! For truth it tells,
Below with Satan is where she dwells.

My love for her was beyond belief,
Now for my heart there is no relief.
She told me together we would stay,
If only I did, whatever, she say.

“We need the gold to live,” she sobbed.
Plans were made, a coach was robbed.
Away with the loot, I watched her ride.
Alone in the dark I stayed and died.

Lifetimes have past since I sealed my fate,
It matters not what the date.
My soul burns forever in the depths of hell,
With the countless tortured hear my wail.

I no longer remember the world of the flesh,
For the sake of my sanity, I think this is best.
I have forgotten her lips and those emerald eyes.
Please, for the love of God, let me forget her lies!

    engulf me in darkness
    blind me from sight
    throw my soul down
    keep me from light

    a man in forever
    i have nothing
    trapped in alone
    but in search of something

    Floating in the water,
    He was in a totter,
    Breathing through a straw,
    Waiting for the fall,
Swaying in the shores of life,
    His situation was rife.

    Running out of air,
    He wondered if anyone cared,
    Falling in the never-ending sleep,
    Now he had sunk deep,
    Just before his final stand,
He saw something that looked like land.

    To be Free

    Amber fields
    Beneath an ocean of blue
A meadow lark chimes with the wind
Thin blades still wet with dew

    Awakened quickly now
    Utopia forever lost
A shrill cry escapes into the air
    Sight now blocked with dust

    Shadows long and thin
    Across a sea of red
    Sharp whistles and yelps resound
    A whip upon my head

    Gruffly frisked along
    Sleep ne'er to be had
Chinks of metal utter in the air
    Land now dark and drab

    But a fire burns within
    Ignites the broken soul
Breaking away with a single charge
    Freedom becomes the goal

    Taken for granted...

    I yearn to...
    express any a thought
    wear any color or style
speak my mind no matter who, where or what
    eat whatever I fancy
    marry whom I choose
go where the wind leads me
learn as much as I can
    be myself
    I yearn for freedom.
