Weird things you believed in when you were a child but were proven wrong...

    That alligators could strike me when I'm most vulnerable....taking a shower or in the toilet.

    That if I thought about something for too long, it may become true.

    Power rangers were as real as the news.

    I used to have this vague idea when I was really young that immigration was still the same way as it was in the earliest 20th century. IE: A bunch of peasant southern/eastern europeans coming here ellis island style.

    We were told that if we eat the stones from fruit, trees whould grow in our tummies. Children still recieve the same threat, and it works!

    I thought that when mommy and daddy talked about making a baby they were referring to buying a kit and assembling the parts (think doll making kit) and once it was done they'd have a new baby. Needless to say I was very disappointed when I discovered you couldn't just go buy a baby kit at K-mart.
