    What Agents Want

Discussion in 'Agent Discussion' started by J.T. Woody, Apr 19, 2021.

Im making a spreadsheet of the agents im interested in and what they require for submission.... But im a bit confused by the wording (maybe im just over thinking...)

"When querying, please include first 10 pages in the body if email"

Seems pretty straight forward... Until i get to the next agent in that agency:
"When querying, please include query letter and first 10 pages..."
The other agents in that agency ask for a query letters, too.

Is it just their personal preferences to request a query letter or not? Im interested in the first agent, should i send a query letter anyways to be on the safe side, or just the 10 pages?

always start with the query letter unless the agent explicitly says "do not send a query letter."

Idiosyncratic and J.T. Woody like this.

I think it's normal not to query more than one agent in an agency. Just pick the one you think best suits you and query them. If they think another agent would be a better fit, they'll pass you on to a colleague.
