I remember watching that movie for the first time and thinking, "Why is the Bishop, a pretty minor character, played by the best vocalist in this entire cast?" Turns out the Bishop is played by Colm Wilkinson, who originated the role of Jean Valjean on Broadway.
We don't have much for crops except hay in this area, so no crop dusters. Guess I'll have to stick with prose.
I didn't think Russell Crowe was as bad as reported by reviews. He certainly didn't have the nuances a trained singer has, but he was (mostly) in tune and his rendition of Stars was pretty solid. High Jackman has *the* most intense vibrato. And I'm not sure what Eddie Redmayne's chin was doing, but his performance for Empty Chairs was done well.
Trying to piece together this inexplicable message I got from a Facebook friend of mine who I don’t even talk to, who asked — out of the sheer frickin’ blue — if I would ever be with someone who has no eyes. As in, would I date a blind person. I just answered back that I don’t judge people based on their looks, I judge based on their actions. Even asked what was up and his response was, ‘nothing’. I mean, I get that there are assholes who would not date someone because they’re blind or disabled in some other ways but… that’s a weird question to just…randomly ask someone you don’t speak to on Facebook xD
This reminds me of an episode of Nip/Tuck where a blind woman wanted surgery to make her eyes, which were a whitish/blue color (pretty creepy, almost definitely contacts) to appear more "normal" so as not to disturb sighted people. She went on a date with a man who was also blind, but he was so shallow he asked one of the MCs if she was hot. He couldn't see her, she couldn't see him, but he didn't want to be seen with any woman who wasn't visually attractive. The MC realized what a tool he was and told him she was wookie-ugly, saving her from getting involved with such a shallow turd. Pretty sure the MC then slept with her because he was a shallow turd as well, but.....
Currently on holiday on a sunny Greek island. The weather is lovely. No complaints. Will be back by Monday.
I belong to a 'music club' which is an informal group of people who enjoy music. Some of us play guitars and we have a couple of drummers and keyboard players as well, whereas the rest come along to listen and associate. We are all average in our musical abilities and there's no pressure or judgement. Each of us take it in turn to play a song. I play the acoustic guitar so I hooked up with a Bass player. We'll be having our 'monthly meet' later this evening.
Wishing I could sleep, but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen tonight. Too many complicated thoughts and feelings bouncing around inside me.
My sister had the same problem, often. What solved it for her was to play talk shows on the radio very low beside her bed. The drone helped her drift off to sleep.
Thanks for the advice, but I'm the complete opposite. I've never been able to sleep with a radio or TV on; I sleep with earplugs in to get as close to dead silence as possible. But I'll be OK. It was just one rough night. Thank you for caring!
He originated the English-language role of Valjean full stop (he was the original Valjean in the West End production).
Pants-ing. Stuck at a crossroads. Imagining the characters all freezing up cause the universe had a hiccup made me chuckle a little.
Coffee is my lifeblood. It is my earthly spirit. My weakness and my strength. Dunno where'd I'd be without the holy bean.
This was a thirteen hour day and I am pooped, tired, wasted, dead on my feet. Okay. That might be overstating the situation, but I have definitely had enough activity and social interactions for the day.
Wrote a little bit. Felt....off, unsure why, but today will be a busy day so perhaps that's sticking to my mind like hot glue.
Putting off going into work. I'm using up overtime by not going into work until the museum actually opens. Would be nice to be paid for all the extra hours I put in, but that's not the way it works for part time employees. Officially, we aren't supposed to put in overtime; practically, there is no way around it without cancelling all evening events.
Graded finals this morning. Trying to catch up on my work to-do list. Planning to get in the pool to escape the heat.
