Apparently I forgot to have an electronics specialist in the Wolf Pack. So instead of hacking or running a bypass on a heavy armored door in the side of a mountain, they decided to use 12 satchel charges instead. While less a strategic or glamorous move, it made hole.
Trying to prise myself off WF to go make chocolate cake. ETA: Over 7 hours later, and all I have achieved is washing up the mixing bowl. Gold star for procrastination today, I guess. *sigh*
Waiting at the DMV to renew my driver's license. This time it's got to be valid as what the Feds call Real ID, and I'm absurdly nervous that my paperwork isn't in order. I have two middle names and a nickname, and the documentation doesn't all match.
I can kind of sympathize. When I got my passport for the first time, I discovered that my first name was actually my middle name. Everyone called me Dapp, it was supposed to be Dapp, but apparently when the birth certificate was filled out my names were switched. Which retroactively explains why my childhood doctor used to always call me by my middle name. So when I went for my passport, all of my childhood documentation, (birth certificate, health card, etc.) was under H.D. whereas all of my adult documentation (drivers license, social insurance, etc.) was all D.H. Turns out the passport people didn't care and issued it to me how I wrote it on the application, but plenty of border agents had a fit about it.
I remember those days. In my 30s', single parenting, taking 6 months off each year from working to rebuild after burning out by doing too much. Drop the kids off at school then, either spend all day in my forum home, or play UT online, even in empty servers, drinking 30 cups of coffee and a smoke with each one, then pick the kids up, then do my chores and finish around 8-9. Now that I don't have to work and I'm basically in early retirement, with near 24\7 free time, I rarely binge and avoid doing what needs to be done. My attitude has changed, influenced by my current situation, that the tasks I need to do are welcomed events. I'm still working on my erratic self-discipline for the hobbies, self-development and health maintenance things I need and desire to do, thus there'll be times I avoid and lack enthusiasm, but each time I get into it or finish a task, I always feel better about myself, which also improves my self-discipline.
My ex used to get moaned at to replace his passport, cos it was moisture damaged. He never did though.
Legally changed my name twice thus far, organising myself for the last change. One name back in my 30's inspired by a Goodies episode, Rastus Watermelon, had fun at the Oz DMV hearing it called out over the intercom when I had to redo me license.
Editing book, eating stew n pineapple and drinking herb tea, listening to some ambient. Dry weather yesterday but grass too soaked, no stars this morning so we'll see if it turns out dry or rainy. I have a week before my mechanic appoinment so I have all that time to inspect the damage to the ute. If I can't temp repair and drive in, RACT will do me a free tow to the mechanic.
Sitting at work. I was lucky to catch a ride with my mother because of the crappy weather... but it means I'm hellishly early. I'm soooooo tired.
Got done amazoning. Turns out 15$ for a USB Mic is not a good idea. So I ordered a derpy looking one for $26 that seems to be much better quality. I am a little bummed the gloves are out of stock, but at least I don't have to remember to order them later. And have a few bucks left over, probably save it for an e-book.
with mikes you get what you pay for troll - the best budget one is the blue yeti - about £89 or thereabouts
If you're doing anything professional with them, it also helps to match the mic to your voice. Of all the mics I've had, the one I find myself using most is a GLS ES-57 (based on the Shure SM57) that I bought for $30 at a farmers market of all places. I have to run it through an interface, though, so the set up is technically more expensive than a Yeti.
Yeah, well $112 isn't in the budget at the moment. Though from what I hear those mics that mimic the human ears are $500.
its better to save up for quality though - by the time you've bought two or three cheap mikes you'll have spent the same amount without getting anything decent for your money
I will get there, don't plan on getting another for quite a good long while. I sold my Tascam Pocket Studio that I was using as a mic, pretty good quality for $135 (Though I don't like having to buy batteries all the time).
