Has anyone read Gaslight by Eloise Willams? If so is it actually about gaslighting? It seems not from the blurb. If not, are there any fiction books you could recommend on gaslighting?
I think it is about gaslighting, if it's the book the famous movie was based on. I haven't read the book or seen the movie, but as I understand it, it's where the term originated from.
Ok, I think there's a recent book with the same name, but the 1944 movie was based on a play by Patrick Hamilton.
The book by Eloise Williams appears to be titled 'Gaslight' as sort of a double meaning, the gaslight of the Theatre in the story and the gaslighting that occurs to the main character. But the main character is young, so I don't think it's the kind of gaslighting that occurs in adult relationships. My guess is there are tons of books about characters escaping abusive relationships that include a lot of gaslighting but I don't know of any where it is the primary theme or focus.
I'll add the Eloise Williams book to my list then. In the meantime, if anyone knows of any books with a primary focus of gaslighting I'm all ears.
