I was looking for some album covers of a band I like - A Silver Mt Zion - and since the covers weren't going to be too impactful at 100x100 I went with this fella, who came up in the image search, instead. He's beginning to vex me a little tho'. Hidden, what is roller derby? I gather it involves skates (are they the four wheels at the corner types or the in-line ones?) ...
Roller derby is on quads. There are five girls on each team skating at one time, four blockers and a jammer. The blockers start first, and then the jammer tries to cut through the pack of skaters, lap them, and get through again to score points. All while everyone from the other team tries to stop them and knock them down. That probably sounds a little confusing, but it's a lot easier to follow if you're watching it.
Rather more pugnacious than I imagined! The inspiration for the rollerskate gang in the Warriors becomes pretty clear now..
Haha it can be pretty hardcore. But thankfully, most of the girls on this league are average size--the league I was going to join in Arizona had a lot of girls who were way bigger than me...scary!
Quite true, Sir! If you don't mind me saying... peculiar creatures some American adolescents. Some seem to grow to a prodigious size very early. As a twelve yr old, once played a visiting American soccer team of about the same age. They had moustaches and adult musculatures! We lost. But your boys left with many bruises about their shins.
Haha I'm not a dude, but I was one of those peculiar creatures. I was like the second or third tallest person in my class up until like seventh or eighth grade. And then I stopped growing. Exactly! There are a couple pretty large girls who are fresh meat, and I have no doubt I could knock them down...I'm just worried about where they'll go when they fall.
^haha, me too. My avatar really doesn't mean anything, sorry to say. It is subject to change. But at the moment, it mirrors what I do in my free time: write.
It means that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was my greatest love in the world of fiction (not counting my own stories), and it remains at the top of my list even eight years later.
Mine is pretty self-explanatory... it just means I'm totally hardcore because I was raised on the street, whut whut!
My avatar is there to remind me that success comes only with focus of the mind. To be clear of what you want to achieve and then move towards that goal without giving up, knowing that there will be setbacks along the way.
Mine's pretty self explanatory. Me, writing, by the sea. Seemed appropriate. I also thought it was a cool shot.
