What is the appropriate age of a character when you are writing about sex?

    You can write about underage sex. It's fine. Unless your writing promotes sex with children, I don't see a problem with writing about sex.

    If that's true, why was "Lolita" banned in so many countries for a long time? Cultural mores and laws do matter. No publisher will want to risk their reputation, and money, if there's a chance criminal accusations would be levied. There doesn't have to be an actual court case either...just the threat would be enough to cause extreme damage to a publisher's "brand," which is their biggest asset as a business.
