What type of job would pay really well and also require you to travel for extended periods, a couple months or more? Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated!
the captain, the doctor, the entertainment people on a cruise ship are paid well ambassadors apointed by the president to U.S. embassies are paid well CIA agents make pretty good money, not sure what the op means by "paid well"
I'm a field service engineer. My job meets your intended requirements. I'm specifically repairing and installing electron microscopes, but this applies to a lot of field service engineer people on different platforms. If you have further questions, feel free to ask. I love talking about my work.
I think we need clarification of the "pay really well" part. Most of the jobs mentioned so far seem liked they'd pay pretty well, but probably not top dollar. I mean, for REALLY well you'd probably want your character to be running her own business, but barring that... lawyer working on international mergers and acquisitions, or something similarly high-end-business?
This sounds perfect, thank you! I'll keep you in mind if I have questions about the job in future. This is just for a very side character so I'm not sure I am even going to go into it at all, but I at least want to have a basic idea of who he is/why he's there kinda thing. Just to help imagine the whole situation better. Thanks!
In case you're looking for more ideas, I know a couple of jobs that pay very well and require lots of travel. The first, like @EFMingo said, is a field engineer. I knew some field engineers working in the oil industry who spent several months of the year at a remote site. Their salaries were somewhere in the $300k-$400k range, and all of their transportation, food, and housing costs were taken care of when they were on travel. The second is anyone working in defense and working overseas, especially in dangerous countries. I forget the exact number, but their salary is tax free up to a certain amount. Also, several things are excluded from being taxed.
@thirdwind Tax free up to 150k I think. Thought about doing that, but passed because six months to a year is just too much time out of country consecutively. I was sick of that when I left the military. Ended up with this job instead and dont regret it.
In the Navy? I hear you can sail the seven seas and in the navy you can put your mind at ease. In the Navy. In the Navy.
Instagram influencer. Professional video game player (One named Ninja was recently paid US$1,000,000 for one day.) Who'd of thought it?
In the Navy....paid terribly to live in unacceptable conditions and work an obscene amount of hours...in the Navy.
