Shoop. It's not a real word, it's just what I always thought the singular version of 'sheep' should be. You know, like two sheep, one shoop.

Ah, defenestrate! I like using that word often, regarding paper and the computer. I would always say I want to defenestrate the paper because I can't stand it anymore.

It is the sound made by leaves being rustled by the wind.

In terms of words I simply use often in my writing, I am going to go strong and say 'the'.

I was having this conversation with my Japanese friend last week actually and I told her that one of my favourite words in English is 'Lozenge'.

I don't know why, it's not a special word I just like the way it sounds :D

Hooligan - I love it. I don't know why, but I love it. It's a fantastic word and it sounds great when you say it out loud.
Defenestrate is pretty fantastic as well.

Honey! It's been "honey" for about two years now.
Other words I really like are: bunny, carnival, charm, cloud, destiny, dream, fairy, happy, rainbow, sapphire, smile, sky, soul and sunshine.

Mm~ I guess I can say I like happy, short and cute sounding English words. ^^

Firstly, my philosophy on word choice. I always strive to choose the words that convey my meaning most precisely, no matter how obscure or esoteric those words may be. If it's the right word for the job, I'm going to use it, no matter how likely it is to send someone running for a dictionary. (Okay, that's not 100% true, but it definitely shows why the first two words below are my favorites.)

Ostensibly -- this conveys certain shades of meaning that similar words like "supposedly" and "presumably" don't quite capture, so it's useful in some contexts where the others may not be quite what I'm looking for.
Cromulent -- I know, not a real word, but, like "ostensibly", it conveys shades of meaning that similar words like "valid" don't really fully convey. I probably wouldn't use this in formal or serious writing, but in casual or more tounge-in-cheek writing, I believe it to be a perfectly cromulent word, and I've actually adopted it into my vocabilary for such uses.
Gregarious -- it's my given name as an adjective. How can I not love it?

I've actually been making a list recently.

votive- It reminds me a of candles, but means a sort of tribute to the memory of someone or something. I just like it. Say it. Votive.

demagogue-It's just a cool word, and perfectly describes my villain.

Simulacrum-an unsatisfactory substitute. Another word that just sounds good.

exchequer-just mean a royal treasury, but sounds so damn posh.

panacea-Maybe I just like words that are hard to pronounce the first time...

spoliation- another posh word. Just means "the act of spoiling"

    gynarchy-Vive les femmes!

pastiche- a work of art that imitates another. Modern artists use this technique. Think Andy Warhol and Marcel Duchamp.

I also like any French word that is common in English. Or any French word in general, really.
