My parents get the tree and the rest of the decorations out the first weekend of December. We have a lot of stuff. Two trees, wreaths, decorative candles, a tinselly thing that winds between the bannisters, lights and - for unknown reasons - a selection of porcelain Christmas-themed biscuit containers, including - for even more unknown reasons - a Batman one, upon which someone once glued a tiny santa hat. I content myself with a decoration I made when I was 7. It is a lump of plaster of Paris with a red candle in the middle, with a tiny plastic snowman one side and a pine cone on the other. It has red and green glitter glued to it. I put it out when I first see the Coca-Cola advert with the truck being driven by Santa Claus. You know the one.
