...Famous photos, which photos immediately come to mind? For my final project for my photography class, I want to remake a couple of famous photographs. When I google it, I keep coming up with the same group of pictures, and I would like to branch out a bit and see what else is out there. Thanks in advance for your help!
Well, I guess the first thing you have to ask yourself is, "What would my subject be?" Would your photograph be historical, architectural, famous for the person photographed, or infamous (depending on your point of view). The last thing I would consider is how close to the original photograph can I make it.
Sailor kissing girl in Times Square Ansel Adams' pepper Sobbiing girl kneeling over dead student at Kent State Marilyn Monroe skirt lifted by airflow from grate Life Magazine photo of baby in womb
The first famous photo that comes to my mind is the one of the sailor kissing the girl in what looks like Times Square. Zis would be what I mean. Edit: Curse you, Cogito! You beat me to it. /sob
I'm ok with any famous photo that has people in it. What I'm gonna do is use little children (and yes, I'm aware of how creepy that sounds lol) to replace the subjects in each photograph. So like for the kissing sailor one in times square, I will use a little boy and a little girl. The actual kiss may be different because they're little kids, but their outfits and the background will be the same. I'm aware of the monro pic and the times square one, but are there any less-popular-but-still-famous pictures you can think of? I want this to be kind of different... I'm also ok with using famous snapshots from movies as well.
The only thing that really comes to mind is the tank man of Tiananmen Square; the photo of the allied three, Roosevelt, Stalin, and Churchill; and the crying Vietnamese girl.
Tienanmen Square...Churchill's V sign...the 'Dewey Defeats Truman' picture...the photo of el Che you see printed on t-shirts and bags and everything...
The first one I thought of was Albert Einstein sticking out his tongue. Also the famous shot of Earthrise over the moonscape taken by the Apollo 8 astronauts.
I think of the Vietnamese chap being shot in the head in the street. More uplifting, a photo of Rui Costa and Materatzzi(sp?) stood together watching fireworks light up the field at a Milan derby.
