Tell me all about how you made your dream a reality. I'm finally taking this shit seriously and moving to publish my finished novel and finish an unfinished work. I would love it if I could talk by phone, I find that I get a real sense of passion when I hear the words. It shouldn't take too long, but imagine you were once in my shoes, looking to be taken seriously, waiting, working, failing until your big break came along. Please reach out. Thanks for reading
To be honest for me just being able to write was me living my dream and being able to write what I want. I don't think you need to be waiting for that stuff to happen, I believe in making it happen for yourself there are so many outlets now out there to share work and engage with other writers, you just need to put your work and yourself out there, I get it it can be very intimidating and scary but if it's a dream you want it'll be worth it!
I haven't published any novels but to get short stories/novellas published it is way less tedious. My last short story got from my laptop to a print journal within two months. Just write, edit, have it proofread by two people, edit again and then submit!
Basically it all falls down to how mainstream/accessible your work is, and how well you can market it. Unless you write in a niche genre like M/M Romance, or something like that it will be a smidgen easier. But you pretty much have to whore your book out like its the best one in the whore house.
