I've just after watching BBC adaptation of Jane Eyre, and I sat and thought about this for a while. Mr Edward Rochester is precisely the man I would fall for. Mysterious, handsome, rude, with issues, and possibly a wife locked up in a house somewhere. Of all the fictional characters I have come across in my extensive watching and reading, I think I'm a little in love with Mr Rochester. Has anyone else wasted brain cells thinking about this? And if not.. waste them now Who is your fictional One, and why?
My fictional one? Paul Atreides. I'm a sucker for a tortured soul. Plus... I mean... Hello! He's the Quizatz Haderach. It don't get more mac than that!
Fred Weasley from Harry Potter. I don't know why I like him more than George when it's not often you even hear about one without the other, but I've always had a little bit of a crush on him. The sarcastic wit really gets me, I guess.
Cthulhu. He could caress me with his tender tentacles while speaking sweet nothings into my ear as we lay happily in bed.
The first character to pop into my head is Biff from Christopher Moore's Lamb. Funny, lovable, and smart (even if he does tend to think with...ahem...other parts of his body a little too often). I think he would be loads of fun.
The first fictional character that I remember falling completely in love with, is: Jareth, the goblin king from 'The Labyrinth'. As a little girl, that was my favourite ever film...i've seen it countless, countless times. I loved dancing to 'Magic dance' along with David Bowie, haha. But yeah. He was the love of my life. haha. He was mysterious, weird, evil, devoted, passionate....and he had amazing clothes and hair. I him.
Uhm, Harley Quinn? The thought of someone being obsessed and ready to do my every will is quite flattering Or that pink-haired chick from FLCL. What was her name?
Edward Cullen! No, I'm kidding. To be honest, I always had a soft spot for the villian Iago from Shakespeare's "Othello" (there's nothing quite as sexy as an evil genius), but I'd probably end up with Sancho Panza from Don Quixote or something. Also really liked Holden Caufield.
I have to love Kiriel from the book "Repossessed." Kiriel was so hilarious, so innocent, so debonair, not the attitude you'd think of a demon, I absolutely loved him. A quote from the demon himself:
Iago was my favourite character in Othello. I spent the whole play feeling heart sorry for him, although granted, at the time, I was going through my whole 'unrequited-teenage-love' phase with a really intellegent, wonderful, gorgeous boy, who, of course, under the Law of Sod, did turn out to be gay. And I have this weird longing for an encounter with Gregory House. There's something sooo attractive about him. Which I think goes to prove that most folk do tend to want the bad guy/girl. Oh dear.
Allison from Yes Man. Simply because Zooey Deschannel is beautiful. And she has a great artistic, hipster-ness. Haha
Probably Eve. From the Bible. Because she didn't wear clothes or anything. On a more serious note, I don't really know.
Thorough edit (I overlook during mornings): Meh. No idea what my One would be. I don't visualize that much the characters. Visually, something like Arwen (dark hair, light eyes), but not character-wise. Character-wise, I guess the image of the girl from Yes-man (although not a literary character).
He's not a literary character, but I'd sell my soul for a night with Dr. House. Hehe. Other than that, I want to marry the MC from my own novel. Probably because I designed him to be my perfect guy.
