Beware, those short story attempts can take on a life of their own and become monsters, forcing your computer room to become your laboratory. Are you ready to become a modern-day Frankenstein? EDIT: I suggest you get on over to the workshop part of these forums and do some critiques, doing them and even just reading other's critiques can help you with your own work.
I'm female, straight. No children. You want me to say my age? I've just finished writing an 82,000 word novel, while working full-time, and I'm absolutely pooped.
I'm actually post-editing. Nothing more I can do until the rejections start coming in. Hopefully, they'll give feedback.
After you query a publisher or agent, all you can do is hurry up and wait for a reply one way or the other. Best not to think about it, some (like me) found the time between submission/response to be a bit anxiety inducing. Best thing I can think of is to start working on a new story and deal with any and all replies when they eventually roll into your inbox. Best of luck to you.
Thanks, ExWeed. It's great advice, but I honestly have nothing left. Maybe I overdid the last few weeks of intense editing. Something in my head kind of snapped I've been working on this novel obsessively for years. I had it beta read about a year ago. Made changes. Edited the changes. Edited those etc.
Haha thanks. Yeah... I finished editing chapter one and I was drained. Had to take a break to recharge
Hi there! Falling back in line. Haven't been on in quite some time. I write Gender Shifter Social Sci-Fi with a bit of Romance and a Touch of Gore. currently have 11 titles published under a psuedonym along with short stories in several issues of a Science Fiction Quarterly magazine. My characters can shift gender at will and that threads throughout every universe in my books. Call it my wish for humanity being sent out for granting.
Throughout my life, I have been witness to some of the biggest crime mysteries in the USA. I have inside knowledge about the perpetrators and their mindset at the time major crimes were committed. I also have background knowledge of what lead to the events that happened simply by being at the right place at the right time to witness events as they unfolded. I would like to write about those events and how they came about in a creative non-fiction format, perhaps as a book or as a screen play. I am not a writer by nature, yet the information I have is valuable and needs to be shared before I die! Any knowledge professional writers can offer will be greatly appreciated.
Gosh, that sounds very mysterious. How did you come by this knowledge? Obviously your problem will be avoiding lawsuits, etc, if you're going to present this as nonfiction. Did you work for some agency? (If so, you might be violating their code by revealing insider knowledge.) I was a medical receptionist for years, and have insider knowledge about people's medical conditions, but I would be prosecuted if I revealed it. Similar strictures apply to other professions. It's hard to comment here without knowing more.
Hi, I'm a gay male in his late twenties and I'm usually writing about guys as well. I don't have a preferred genre tough, I write what comes to my mind.
Live in the UK, first novel is an action thriller with a mild sci-fi slant, but I refuse to typecast myself!
