Just wanted to stop in and say hello! I decided to take up more of my time online by surrounding myself with writers, and found this site. I'm just a writer in my spare time, currently working on my first novel. I'm about half way through right now, and can't wait to get it out there. Even if I have to self publish, I'll be thrilled to have my friends and acquaintences get to read it and give me feedback. It's a zombie novel, because I figure that's a nice, easy genre to start off in. I'm currently fumbling around with my family in picking out a title. We decided that mostly generic is the way to go, though I will certainly be able to incorporate a title into the book later. (You know the whole, "It's like it's some sort of HOT TUB TIME MACHINE" moment) Anybody have an attention grabbing title that you don't mind sharing? I have about three options that are floating around right now; I'm trying to avoid the obvious. I'll probably come add a poll later and get some feedback on all of the options I end up with. If I may say, I like your approach. Straight forward. I'm looking forward to self publishing myself. You can go the tradtional route withe a publishing house and maybe get accepted after a good while. Or you don't get accepted and it was wasted time. As for myself, I am waiting for the first 'best opportunity'. I wish you the best on finishing your story. I just finished mine. Pending an editor who is fluent in archaic English. Now, which road I take is the question. I'm with you. Good luck in your endeavor.

At ic1978: DINNER PARTY rocks!!! That's my favorite out of everyone's suggestions, btw. Sets the tone for irony, humor, and a little bit of bitter/sweet nostalgia (I never liked dinner parties because of all the people, but I loved free food...and eating humans is DEFINITELY free).
