Bert Jansch Understated, not like the rock gods. But so beautiful. Hope Sandoval on vocals. Always wanted to sing this.
Good call. Love, love, love Zakk Wylde. I met him on an Ozzy tour, and he was cool, kind, and true to his badass self. A great storyteller, too, and funny as hell. Favorite guitarist is a tough one, because I like solos that blend seamlessly in and out of the song, as opposed to only standing out over the top. So, while many of the above are amazing technicians I agree with, two of my favorites to listen to are DJ Ashba and Neil Giraldo because of the way they write their parts. DJ has a whole bag o' tricks, but I like the way he integrates them into the music. 'This is Gonna Hurt" is a good example: And, if you want to know what he's doing, he posted video lessons on YouTube: Some of my favorite work of Neil's is on Pat Benatar's Precious Time album, especially "Promises in the Dark".
I second the Zakk Wylde endorsement! Black Label Society is a great band! And his solo work, such as Book of Shadows, is amazing!
Not a big fan of Avenged Sevenfold but I like many of their songs, and I think Synyster Gates is criminally underrated. Sick guitarwork. Great riffs, gnarly solos, beautiful melodies. 2:15 never gets old for me. And again at 1:50
Tom DeLonge. I can only imagine the outrage if they were born 20 years later and started blink today.
