    Why Hello There!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Strawberry Pie, Apr 27, 2008.

Hello! Call me Lola. I found this site this morning and decided to join, but I was too tired to post my intro. Several hours of sleep later, I find myself doing it now.

Well, what do you want to know? I'm sixteen, but I've had a strong interest in writing since I was twelve. I write short stories more often than poetry, but don't get me wrong! Poetry is amazing.

If I had to classify my writing, it'd have to be under the "Romantic" category. The majority of my writing revolves around gays and lesbians, not only because I'm gay myself, but because it's easier for me to relate to than straight relationships.

I have deviantART and FictionPress.Com accounts for my writing, but I never get any feedback. Hopefully this site will be different.

In addition to writing, I like reading, drawing, making tattoo designs, horseback riding, video games, roleplaying, anime/manga, and playing my guitars and bass.

    That's about it, really. Ciao!

Hello Lola, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well!

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
