Congratulations to @Thomas Kitchen for winning Poetry Contest #244! You can read his winning entry below. I also want to mention that there was a two-way tie for second place between @Darkkin ("Broken Silence") and @cutecat22 ("Silence" (2)). Congrats to you both as well! Thomas Kitchen - PM me your idea for the next theme, which will be used for Poetry Contest #246. "The City of Silence" by Thomas Kitchen I walk the lonely well-trodden track, Not looking down, not looking back. The clouds have gathered, heavy and grey; Time has passed since it’s been day. I read the ancient wooden sign, Planted there as if a shrine. I stand before it, needing guidance, And there I read, “No path to Silence.” I walk again (the thunder roars), Passing the ruins of remembered wars. The city of Silence seems so compelling, And I must find it, and be dwelling. But soon I see the others lost, Striving for Silence, no matter the cost. Yet where does it lie? Not a single one knows; I look ahead and hear the crows. It seems Silence city will never be found, Forever we’ll wander, forever unsound. Anything for the silence of Silence – Instead of listening to life’s harsh sirens.
